A little light relief!

in #life4 days ago

At least in the mornings now the clocks have finally gone back.

TBH I was getting a bit sick of the dark mornings, with the sunrise yesterday at around 7.50 a.m.

I headed out for a run at around 7.15 in fact yesterday, and I dug out my old head torch which i haven't used for a while as it was still not quite light.

I mean I could see where I was going, so the torch was more about being seen better on country lanes, but even so it helped for the first 10 mins or so.

I would have gone earlier had it not been for the darkness.

And now this morning, noticeably light through the (non black out) curtains at 6.30 again, sunrise at 6.50 ish, all in all much better!

I opted for a split-strategy this clock change and set my alarm half an hour earlier than usual, so got me an extra 30 mins sleep (I went to bed quite early anyway) plus a bonus 30 mins earlier wake time, now set firmly to 6.00 a.m.

6.00 a.m. works for me!

I like to start work at 8.00 a.m. i'm not sure why, it's just a time that feels good, and then I can clock off at 16.00.

And 6.00 - 8.00 gives me a decent chunk of morning to do whatever needs to be done, not that it's real quality time with work hanging over me (albeit only 3 days a week, but I find it easier with a regular routine every day rather than chopping and changing).

I can get out for a run and get my drive into work in 2 hours, although that does feel a bit rushed,

So I'm more likely to run on non-office days and then WFH, I could go out in a mid-morning session, and in fact I probably will sometimes, but I like the OPTION of an early morning run.

And if I'm not running I can meditate, do a bit of Tai Chi, generally just prep the day at a leisurely pace. Also ablutions, packing, getting dressed, getting to the car, that all takes me 30 minutes. I know some people prefer to do this all in 10-15, but that's DEFO not me!

A nice day helps...

Honestly, it was SO sunny this morning, I honestly don't remember a late October day quite this pleasant, like ever, it was BRIGHT and quite warm...

I was going to regrout the shower this morning (FUN TIMES!) but I put this back an hour to just wander into town and sit in the park with a coffee, it was SUCH A NICE DAY...

Well still is, but I mean SUCH a lovely and pleasant October day, just so NICE!

Then the dark evenings...

Honestly I've never really minded these, I quite like them in fact, the only thing I don't like is having to drive more in the dark, especially on country lanes.

Although at least with the clocks going BACK we've all had an extra hour to sleep, we haven't lost sleep, so the roads won't be more dangerous like they are when the clocks go forward due to an increase in the average amount of sleep deprivation.

And you know I may just head out for a few post-work runs with the head torch, too! I don't know why I am just in the mood. Although maybe that's just easy to say 'cos I'm sat here on my arse on a Sunday morning feeling very refreshed!

Beautiful weather and walk. In this weather, better than a park and coffee, maybe only a park, coffee and cognac :)

I dunno it was 8.30 a.m.!

I had some extra sleep this morning before heading out for a run. It was quite nice out there after the initial chill wore off. Been a nice day. I'll be coming home from work in the dark tomorrow.

All change!

It has not been changed in my country for almoat 10 years. It is time to go to school or work in dark. This obviously affects our mentality every year.
