Happy Sunday y'all !!!
Whenever someone brings up “Mayberry” in a conversation, many of us old folks that grew up with Opie and wishing we had a dad like Sheriff Andy Taylor, immediately think of the Andy Griffith Show. However today I would like to visit a real life Mayberry located at mile marker 180 right on the Blue Ridge Parkway of course in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. Specifically I am talking about the Mayberry Trading Post that started in business in 1892 and also acted as the post office for the community of Mayberry Creek as you can see in this photo showing the cubicle for individual families’ mail.
Nowadays the Mayberry Trading Post sells such staples as sandwiches and sodas plus a multitude of locally made goods .
The Beautiful Sunday and Sublime Sunday tags are some of my faves! I want to thank @ace108 for running the beautiful Sunday tag every week and keeping such detailed stats and supporting the accounts. Also, a shout out to @c0ff33a for the sublime Sunday tag where your random Sunday posts are always welcome!
The vibe of the Mayberry Trading Post is that of an old time General Store mixed with a kitschy assortment of home goods and decor.
I thought one of the most interesting aspects of the place is how slanted the main door is. Of course this is fitting is it is located where there is no level ground whatsoever!
