MOBILITY BALL SERIES

PART 4

LAT QUAD RELEASE

Benefits?

  • Reduce Quad tightness
  • Reduce IT Band tightness
  • Decrease knee and lateral thigh pain
  • Improve knee strength and stability
  • Decrease tension on the patella and abnormal lateral tracking
  • Improve lower extremity performance

LET'S GET STARTED!

Using a ball or double ball, place the ball on the floor under the knee. Ball should be on the tissue where the outside of your quad meets the knee (should NOT be on bone)

Laying on your side with knees straight, slowly bend the knee and straighten it. This will allow the ball to roll over the lateral quad region

Perform 10 times, move the ball to another tight location and REPEAT!

What to use?

I personally use a Rad Roller, which is displayed in the videos. However, it's very easy to DIY yourself your own. Take two tennis balls or lacross balls and duck tape them together like so.

Very useful, I'll add this to my physio exercises. I have imbalanced quad muscles which pull my kneecap out of alignment so I need to build up the strength on my inner quads.

Good, it'll help compliment your quad strengthening regimen

I suffer from pain in my knee when hiking a lot and I can see that this is something for me to build strength in my knees so I might not get the pain. The exercise looks rather easy and I guess that it doesn't take much time:-)

Absolutely @kerlund74 , I can come up with some other exercises as well for you :)

This looks fairly easy... so I'll be giving it a try. Great post and thanks for sharing your knowledge :)

Absolutely, this is one of the easier exercises to perform. Combine it with a few others in my series and you'll feel great! :)

Happy to share, thanks!!

Your tips and DIY tools are very practical and inviting

are happy to have You moving the board together getting into action !
greetings from Amsterdam, Nic we sure can use a team member like You in #minnowsfaucet we

Thank you very much @nicnicy I'm trying to present everything in a way that will allow people to easily adapt and incorporate the exercises into their lives without having personal direction.

Glad to be apart of the #minnowsfaucet community, keep it going! :)

Those are really easy exercises, perfect.

Thanks for that.

You may want to include part 1 of the series in your links below ;-)

Thanks so much! I've got about 6 more in the pipeline :)

I was thinking about adding all the links, but I wasn't sure if it looks annoying having a bunch of post links on there.

In my opinion it is more annoying to have to go to someones profile and search all their posts.

Keep in mind though, if you want to do this correctly you should maybe add the future posts also in the once you already did. It does add to the workload ;-)

Ah gotcha, I'll keep that in mind then. Good suggestion. Thanks!

I need a lot of that girl!
