You weren’t born to fulfill anyone else’s dream,
Or walk anybody’s path or pitch for an assigned team.
You can’t live your life as a strung-up puppet because you’re free
To be a runaway prisoner from other’s authority.
Spend less time chasing people and more time chasing your dreams,
Keep reminding yourself of the person you’ve always wanted to be.
Pursue the one thing that makes your heart feel alive,
The passion that revives you when you’re already numb on the inside.
Someday becomes yesterday and today is what we call life,
Being average is so demeaning, as if we’re only meant for scraping by.
Nobody is in charge of your happiness, except for you .
I thought that if it wasn’t the thing I wanted, then nothing else will do.
'Do something instead of killing time, because time is killing you,
Doing what you like is freedom but happiness is liking what you do.'
If you don’t speak up now, how’s the world supposed to know you exist ?
I regret that it takes a whole life to learn how to live.
Make your story one worth telling even when the roads are rough,
Because you only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough .

The Story Behind The Poem:
I'm come to realize that the more I age, the more courage I lose. Just a few years ago, the word impossible was not in my dictionary. Being naive allowed me to strive towards my dreams simply because I didn't know how difficult it would be to achieve. As I became an adult and felt the weight of reality, I began to label my dreams as unrealistic and buried them somewhere deep in my heart. This poem is a battle cry to remind myself and others about the passion that we once had but have forgotten.
