Can one be winning battles and yet still be losing the war?
Yes, victory in many battles is never an assurance of winning the war....
My first thoughts was about this was sparked by Robb Stark, a fictional character of the HBOmovie series GAME OF THRONES ....
For the non #GOT fans, here is a quick wiki character description
Robb is the eldest legitimate son of Lord Eddard Stark, and heir to Winterfell. When Lord Eddard relocates to King's Landing to become the King's Hand, Robb remains at Winterfell to rule in his father's stead. When Eddard(Robb's Father) is beheaded by Ser Ilyn Payne, Robb is declared King in the North by his bannermen rather than swear fealty to the Lannister king, Joffrey Baratheon, drawing the lords of the North and of the Riverlands to his cause. (Despite displaying a proficiency in military tactics in his victories against the Lannisters, he makes numerous political and strategic errors, culminating into his betrayal and murder by disgruntled allies Walder Frey and Roose Bolton, all under discreet command of Tywin Lannister at the wedding of his uncle, Edmure Tully, to Frey's daughter Roslin).
He never lost any battle yet lost the war, he died at an arranged wedding turned massacre...
In our everyday life, we seem to be winning but yet lack a sense of accomplishment, why?... Its simply because we are fighting the wrong battles, Focusing on the wrong enemy, We rely too much on our talents forgetting that talent can never be enough, we get so excited by petty success that we lose sight of the bigger picture.
Winning the war also requires victories in battles alongside, but to win the war you have to strike at the heart of the enemy.....
What or who is your basic enemy as a success seeker?.....
Take time to discover your major enemy which is YOURSELF!!! Surprised? Don't be.
Learn from the three vital mistakes Robb made
BE A MAN OF YOUR WORD ....... Robb made enemies with the Freys that murdered him because he called off a marriage with their daughter because he fell in love with another woman, DO NOT MAKE PROMISES YOU CANT KEEP... a key to making less enemies.
NEVER LET YOUR GUARD DOWN.... Trust with your heart and your HEAD, never trust any human blindly, always have a Plan B for a worst case scenario of Disappointment. Robb let his guard down by going Unharmed to a Fox's den literally.
SAY NO TO THE WRONG CIRCLE OF FRIENDS... Many a times we love to believe our friends are always for our best interest, but no one has to be extremely careful of who we keep around us, having the wrong Mastermind group(advisers) could hinder a project. A loyalty check from time to time is quite necessary. Robb was betrayed by his chief vassal lord Roose Bolton, who has also secretly defected to the enemies and rewarded with a title.
Be sure to win the battle within, before you set to win the war beyond.
I'll be very happy to hear your thoughts about this in the comment section and your upvotes would be appreciated
