Words are powerful. The bible said that the power of life (the power/ability to create, to build, to achieve our dreams, to become amazing and exceptional in life as well as) and death (to cast down, to destroy our dreams, to ruin our futures, to build up pains and hurt in our lives) are in our tongue.
How wonderful. Whenever I read or come across this verse in a book, I’m often surprised at what we are capable of doing with our words.
Our words can create barrier and bumps in our heart and minds and our life in general. Sometimes, just one word can hurt us for years.
A single phrase can rub us of our self confidence and self-esteem. It can take from us very precious things therefore, let’s be very careful with our words.
I was reading a book by Joel Osteen the other day and he was talking about words. He made references to the book of Genesis1 the story of Adam and eve. When God called Adam after they had eaten the
Forbidden fruit, he said that he was naked.
And then God asked him, “Who told you that you are naked?”
As Joel put it in that book, so I put it to you today. WHO TOLD YOU that you are worthless, who told you that you are good for nothing or that you are slow or lacked intelligence. I tell you today that those are lies.
They are all lies. If you don’t believe me, then let me also inform you that Steve Jobs was considered unteachable and was also sold by his real parent, Henry Ford was labeled a lunatic for trying what has never been done before,
the Wright brothers where thought to be stupid when they wanted to invent the plane, Paul was thought to have lost his mind when he decided to preach Christ, Noah was perceived to be crazy when he was building the ark.
And a lot of others where labeled insane, stupid and idiots in life.
But today, we hear of them. Their achievements and impacts have shaken the world proving that all those negative words about them were all lies.
So, I don’t care your own version of lie or who might have said it to you or how long you have believed it, I don’t care how much of a truth it looks like or how similar it is with your current situation.
God is asking you just like he asked Adam in the garden of Eden and Moses in the wilderness, WHO TOLD YOU that you can’t get that promotion, who told you that you can’t amount to anything in life, that you can’t get good grades or succeed in your business, or that you can’t have an amazing relationship.
Whatever it is that people might have told you, I want to let you know once again that they are all lies.
The things that God put inside of you can never be removed by people’s word. You hold the key to your destiny.
Don’t listen to them, don’t believe them.
God said he has given you the ability to do exploit and that you can do all things (including achieving that your dreams, making that team, getting that grade or building that business or relationship you want) through Christ that strengthens you.
Have you forgotten you are more than conqueror for God’s spirit resides within you?
