I like pinot, too, and you have some great pinot in Washington! Ah, chardonnay gets a bad wrap - over years I've learned to fall in love with great chardonnays, mainly old world (French Burgundy, for example). Balance of minerality and oak, that's the key. Butterbomb chardonnay makes me want to gag! :)

I usually drink California or Oregon Pinot Noir. Never seen good in Washington., but I guess I just avoid wine from WA

The chardonnay's of today are not like the chardonnays of yester-year. There are a lot of wineries that use steel fermentation tanks for chardonnays now which reduce the butteryness considerably, and you are still left with a great crisp wine with just a hint of that lushness. My brother had the same complaint as you but I made him try a few of the younger ones and won him back over.

the thought of chardonnay makes me feel sick .... and I didn't taste it in the past 9 years. But I will try find a wine that comes from steel fermented tanks. You have any suggestions?

@ella-kay - one you can find at the grocery store A to Z Oregon Chardonnay (it's unoaked). My favorite is Passaggio's Unoaked Chardonnay (passaggiowines.com) but her wines are only available online or at the winery. Just look for "unoaked."
