🍔 Amazin’ Smokin’ Vegan Burger 💨

in #vegan7 years ago

Last night I went out for dinner to celebrate my 2 year anniversary of being veggie and decided to go for something a little different.

Firstly, the place I chose wasn't a restaurant, but a pub. But not just any pub- The Camden Head in Camden, North London. The Camden Head has a long history, having first opened towards the end of the 19th century and it has remained a firm favourite for locals due to it's laid back and unpretentious vibe.

It stands out from other London pubs for two reasons- the first being that is doubles up as a comedy club, with a small intimate venue upstair which hosts free stand up comedy gigs, ticketed events for known comedians and even workshops where you can learn the art of stand up comedy and improv.

The second reason this pub stands out in a sea of generic pubs is their unique culinary creation- THE SMOKIN' BURGER!

The pub is known for their trademark handmade burgers, which are smoked and then served at your table under a glass dome filled with your choice of delicious smoke.

Sounds intriguing right? I thought so!

In the past I'd seen certain cocktails, like a smoked Old Fashion served in this way, but this is the first place I'd ever heard of doing this with food!

There are lots of different smokes to chose, so you can have a different smokey experience each time!-

THE SMOKES
Whiskey barrel wood smoke
Hickory wood smoke
Apple wood smoke
Cherry wood smoke
Ash wood smoke
Cabernet wood smoke
Oak wood smoke

I went for The Smokin’ Vegan burger-
A home-made vegan burger patty, blending peanuts, sweet potato, chickpea and flax, garnished with crisp lettuce, tomato, all smothered in a delicate almond sauce and served in a seeded vegan bun with the hickory wood smoke.

And wow, I wasn't disappointed!

The burger was very flavourful, I loved the addition of peanut in the burger which was really unusual and tasty. The smoked infusion gave it a barbeque flavour which was really rich and unique- I've never had a veggie burger like this before!

The smoke infuses the food with a rich flavour as well as enhancing the natural flavours of the dish making for a one of a kind dining experience.

But not only that, it creates a bit of a performance to your meal, and everyone loves a show! :)

And it's so affordable at only £10 which includes a side of your choice including fries (amazing), deep fried guacamole balls or onion rings.

So if you're ever in Camden, drop by the Camden Head- you won't regret it!

It's such a friendly pub with such a great vibe, and with good food and comedy on offer too you're sure to have an awesome night :)

Congratulations :) 😋

thanks! 😀

Wow that looks amazing I might check it out !! Love a good vegan burger as an occasional treat

You definitely should 😊 Such good value- the burgers are huge!

my friend is staying so we might go tonight! looks fun.

awesome! But if you’re in Camden you should go to Mildred’s if you haven’t already 😊

Weirdly one of the few vegan places I havn't been too, im actually west I love paradise unbakery and Nama as raw vegan restaurants but i do like to go try new things. I think mildreds looks a bit expensive to me ppl pay like £20 for a small plate.

It's not too bad actually, I think a main dish is around £12, it gets a bit pricey if you're ordering alcohol but if not it's pretty average :)

Whhhaaaaaat!!??? Smoked burgers??? Why have I never heard of this? Sounds amazing

I know! I was so curious I just couldn’t resist 😋
