Moreton Island - Sharks, sun, beaches and beers

in #travel7 years ago

Moreton Island is a tropical paradise about 40kms east coast of Brisbane. It is the 3rd largest sand Island and is home to many turtles, rays, sharks, goanna's and many other wildlife. We headed out north-easterly from Scarborough Point to see if there were any waves to hit on the northern end of Moreton Island which took us about 30-40 mins to reach. We could have done it faster, the water was very flat, but due to having 30 other ski's with us we had to keep stopping to allow the slower ones to catch up.

The weather was certainly turned on for us however the water was completely flat so with no wave jumping it was time to swim and drink some beers.

On the way back we saw this bad boy and we also saw a hammer head shark but wasn't able to get the camera out in time.

There were so many turtles. I thought we would be lucky to see any but they were everywhere.
