After hitchhiking a sailboat and crossing the Atlantic from Europe to the Caribbean, my travel mate and I went from the Dominican Republic to Honduras and that's where the 4 country land hitchhiking started.

I found it way easier to hitchhike in Latin America than in Europe. It took max 15 minutes to get picked up and drivers were always really friendly. Even if a car is full, because the rule are very flexible or there is no one to reinforce them, we could easily get in the open trunk and travel there which I found a lot more exciting.

I like to travel slow so it took 2,5 months to go through these 4 countries, and it was still faster than I should have.

People are just more open to strangers and not as afraid as in Europe. So I found it much more enjoyable and easier.

cool stuff! Aren't you scared to hitchhike in that region? Or its not that bad as they say in the media?

The media would not have viewer if they didn't find every single incident to report on. But sure I was scared but what better way to get rid of a fear than to face it :) we fear the unknown, you know the: what if...but I live by: what if not...I would miss out on a lot of great adventures and opportunities if I didn't face my fears. And we do this day in day out we just don't realize it. Everytime you drive a car you are risking your life, everytime we walk at night we are risking our lives. When you choose to do it anyway, you win over fear. If this gets me into trouble, well...my fault, but if not, I experience something only a few do. :)

What an amazing experience! Wish I had even a fraction of your courage.

Thank you @loulou365, but the secret is really just to do it. I was scared too but then I got used to it. :)

One word, Amazing. I like how your pictures show the best part of hitchhiking, the pickup trucks box!! Are you going down the Americas? I've hitchhiked a good part of Patagonia, more than 10.000 km. I'll stay tunned for your trip.

hey thanks :) and well done!!! This is just a memory of 2016, so not live documentation of my travels, but 2016 and 2017 was full of adventures so more stories are coming :) Happy new year!

Happy new year! And much more adventures for the year to come.

Like you, I always travel slow. Unlike you, however, I've never hitch hiked. Do you also do it when you're alone?

Yes I've done it all across Europe and in Mexico. Yes slow traveling is just more engaging and memorable. What was your favorite place?

I've only been to Asia and Africa so far and it is very difficult to choose a favorite place - all of them were amazing in a unique way 😎😎

You look happy! hope u enjoyed your hike! hugs @mysevenworlds

@alexandraioana26 thanks:) Happy New Year and hugs from Florida :)
