.
Since we were already awake & had a full day ahead of us, we decided to keep this no sleep party going & kept driving π needless to say, we slept goooood last night ππΌ
.
After a 10+ hour drive overnight from Flagstaff to Bakersfield, the first stop we made was at an orchard to get some of our favorite fruits cause they just donβt taste as good anywhere else (besides Mexico π). @richardcrill got Valencia oranges (omg theyβre sooooo sweet) and I got some fresh extra fancy dates πππ
Now, weβre researching some places to boondock with @thedodgemahal. Since most of our budget has been eaten by the gas cost of getting here, weβre all about finding free places to park our RV - not surprisingly, thatβs kind of hard to do in the cooler, more desirable parts of CA, but weβll settle for a shady spot! Anyone know of some good boondocking sites?? Weβre currently in Selma, en route to Sacramento!
Omg yes those oranges π Aww so close to the sequoia's and kings canyon, if only she could make it up those climbs to one of our favorite places on earth.
I'm trusting you know national forests are safe overnight parking and people can say what they will about walmarts but hey.. did us great plenty of nights xo
I cannot even describe the sensations I get from those oranges, lol. She continually impresses me with her capabilities! We will be testing her again soon when we head for Mt Shasta (the town). We did just learn those things, stayed in walmart parking lot the other night. Thanks for all your support and awesome comments man!
Love it man, Shasta and tricounty is a fun place to be I'm sure you already know. Yeah we had to accept that when in towns and cities unless you're in a nice discreet, clean looking van, you can't blend into side streets so easily. Sometimes we'd cruise for hours looking for a corner spot or st opposing a park or a wall section. Got lucky sometimes best but not great on 11mpg lol!
So certainly Walmart parking lots are a haven for ease and access, costco for a great selection of organic food and bulk resupplies and don't forget Lowe's for free wifi. If we really had to be in town for days in a row don't forget truck stops off most main highways for tank dumps, propane and overnights. Flying Js, TA and Love's had laundry too and cool conversations in the diners.
All above were "ok" with us stopping in for one night and parking was easier in anything 20'+ π
Wow, somehow I almost missed this reply. So glad I realized though because this is some great information that I was mostly unaware of. Thank you very much!!!
I got you brother, parking in towns can't really be avoided and can be a pain in the ass we found. There were days when I had consecutive shoots in Vegas that we'd be post up in the corner of a Lowes, her working from their free customer wifi and me getting things done on the rig.
Plus as I was working on remodeling the interior it was super handy to be able to buy supplies and go back and forth with measurements and cut to order lol. That way we never felt bad about staying over either as we were a legit customers.
Same for Costco, they have awesome organic food options and we'd plan which day we would resupply, shop just before closing and then ask manager if we could rest and leave in morning. They always said yes and by checking in with store manager we feel it saved us on getting any midnight knocks from security.
Lowes was our preferences over Walmarts simply because of amount of traffic, noise, ambient light and of course the wifi being the biggest happiness hack. π
Ps. Oh hey I know you're super busy with the adventure. However will you be able to check in at @smg discord if you'd like to stay with the group? There's a agreement about engagement and /or letting us know you'll be dormant for an amount of time so that we can factor this into our community vote approval ratios. Cheers bro.
Thank you for the reminder! Doing it now!
Welcome to the land of milk and honey!
It seriously is! Looking forward to seeing you soon! ππΌ
