Adventure and adrenaline with tunnel crossings and climbing chains.
Rock walls of gigantic rocks eroded by Galbena Valley water in spectacular shapes.Hidden caves and caves, an underground river, the Evantai Falls and the Yellowstone - some of the reasons why it is worth visiting the Cheile Galbenei.
The Yellow Keys route is recommended to more experienced tourists, with a greater degree of difficulty.
How do you get to the Galbena Keys?
Departing from the center of Arieseni, follow the paved road passing through the shops and the town hall, climbing the Cobles valley through the village of Fata Cristesei to the village of Cobles. The tourist mark to be followed is the yellow triangle.
For those who want to shorten the way, you can drive by car from Arieseni to Cobles and from Abc in Cobles follow the road from the rock that goes up Gojii Valley and then down Luncsoare Valley to the entrance to the Galbena Gorge . This part of the road is accessible to any car up to the Luncsoara Canton. At Chei entrance you will find some tourist signs and an informative panel. With keys we recommend you follow the marked and arranged route in the more difficult places with chains for your safety.
The Galbena Keys are an extremely difficult segment that involves courage, attention and skill. If you have no serious experience on the mountain and you have never had contact with the chained routes, do not venture. It's dangerous and you will not like it.
For those like us, crazy after adventure and adrenaline, follow the most spectacular part of the trail: a succession of metal cables and chains that carry you over the water through a cave to the Evantai Falls. Stepping gently down the stones can get you very close to the fall of water.
The road then continues with a tedious climb and a narrow path, and when you think the fun is over, you wake up again in front of vertically climbing chains. From here, a true canyon with natural slides is formed, a pleasure for canyoning lovers. The water disappears and appears from the rock, and after a last segment with metallic cables you reach the Yellowstone, the place where the water, after entering underground in the Fortress of Ponor, gives rise to the Galbena River. It looks like a peaceful green blue lake that you can not even think of such an impressive cascade.
From here you have two choices: to climb another hour on a path that winds through the woods to the Borvig Avenue or cut the piece by going directly to the Ponor Balconies. The Avenul is a karst formation in the form of a shaft with a diameter of 35 meters and 54 meters deep. It's easy to understand why my knees were softened on his edges. Even more impressive is that it houses the second glacier in the countryside after Scarisoara, and that there is a route with wooden stairs and then corridors through the halls of the ice. Now, Czárán Gyula's route does not exist anymore, but it awakens imagination and you can not help wondering how it looks inside. However, do not bend over the edge and be careful not to slip.
If you are not tired of the heights, you can go back to Glavoi Camping by going to the Ponor Balconies following the blue point path or you can choose the option a bit longer until Padis that bears you on the yellow point through the wonderful Poiana Ponor. Both variants are not difficult, the first is only shorter and more direct in time, the second gives you the opportunity to understand what peace and quiet really means in a mountain poiana.
Galbena Circuit is, so far, my favorite route from the Apuseni Natural Park. Here you remind yourself that the mountain must be treated with respect, it offers you everything you know and you can reward yourself if you do not brave and do not enjoy more than you can go.
Thanks for visit 😉
