America, you ain't that bad.

So each year there is a country in the World that is 'trending'. This year? Croatia! Why in the World is everybody going to Croatia? And why is nobody asking me to go with them?

This morning I was feeling a little sad, and what always cheers me up, or makes me even more sad, is looking through old photos. For my 21st birthday my brother bought me a ticket to visit him in America, or 'MURICA, which gets me back to my first point...

Every year there is a trending country, however, South Africans aren't really all that excited about travelling to America. In fact, whenever I mention my trip, most people just shrug and go "Oh my gosh, Americans are so stupid." I'm sorry, but have you been there? No. So shut your mouth and listen to my adventure, because I had a great time, and America- I think you are awesome!

Here's why:

You open the door and step out onto the streets of San Francisco and you are greeted by this view:

Then you go visit the ferry building for the day, which is located right across from Alcatraz. Well, not right across, but you can see Alcatraz from the peer. So anyways, you make your way into the building and you see food. Food everywhere. Food glorious food. You make your way to the oysters and order 10 of them because mama didn't raise no quitter... Okay, too full to walk, too full to walk...But your brother let's you know that it's time to pack your bags because your going to Orange County (OC) in the morning. Great- food coma, bed time and BOOM. After a day of travelling, you get sundowners at Laguna Beach...

Okay Laguna Beach, it's been fun, but it's time to go to Santa Monica. I'm sure about 100 movie scenes have been shot at this peer. So it's a really big tourist spot, which is exactly why we have to go there! Hello LA and Santa Monica!

Christmas day: you find yourself back in San Francisco, only to be awaken by the smell of ginger cookies. There are Christmas lights and fairy lights everywhere in this house and Christmas presents left, right and center. You receive a very special present from a very special someone: a POLAROID camera! Okay, so it's almost time to go home, but you can absolutely under NO circumstances leave America before you haven't partied in Las Vegas. Teleportation device- take me to Vegas:

This was one of the funniest nights of my life. We were staying at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Vegas. Neither myself or my best friend Sally had any idea where our room was. Seriously, even when we were sober, it was trickier to find than university level physics. Up 2 flights in the lift, turn left, make a right, take two steps, turn right, take 20 steps, make two turns...But on this night, we enjoyed so many tequila shots and managed to find our way back to the room. How? Nobody knows. Till this day, it will be known as the Las Vegas mystery of 2015.
