I guess you could see this as a good thing or as a bad thing depending on your point of view.
Two seasons ago I ranked Diamond one. Last season I put more money into my cards, but I only ranked Diamond three.
Giphy
This season I put even more money into my cards, but I'm only ranked Gold two. I'm finding it really hard to get out of the Gold rank even though it was so easy to get almost all the way to Champion before.
One thing I'm really noticing now is that people gold ranked are using higher level Summoners.
When playing someone in the gold two league it strikes me as highly unusual to be playing against monsters that are eighth level.
It is allowed though.
Eighth level common.
Sixth level rare.
Fifth level Epic.
Third level Legendary.
I don't remember the levels being this high before, but I suppose they may have always been this way and I just never noticed.
I will tell you that the Gold league usually consisted of levels 3 and 4 Summoners that were calling monsters that were ranked between levels 4 and 5.
What we're seeing here is a much higher level of competition.
In effect we are seeing many more expensive decks being played at lower levels.
This kind of sucks because it means that you put a certain amount of money into your deck and you do well with it. The next season you put even more money into your deck, and you do less well. The next season you put more money in but you do less well again.
I guess you could say it's really solidifying the ranks. The Gold rank was probably never actually meant for level 3 Summoners with level 3 monsters. It was probably more meant for levels 6 - 8.
Still, in the past it has always been right around level 3. Now everything seems to have jumped up a whole new section. Also Diamond uses Max Summoners, but so does Champion. I really don't get that.
In a way it really does feel bad. I don't want to put more money into my deck when it's only going to get me to a level that's not as high as last season.
I don't want it to feel like an endless money pit. I want to feel like we get some kind of reward just by playing. The daily rewards really don't count unless you have enough money to be able to upgrade each and every one of your decks.
I've stopped doing the daily because of that. I'm focused on my death deck.... I don't want to then go play the life deck. That is counter to my program.
I'm a death deck guy. I've put actual money into this death deck.
So these are just a few thoughts. I think the daily should change so that it doesn't require us to put money into decks that aren't our main deck. I think that is kind of unfair. I'm not necessarily against it getting harder each season, but I do think that there needs to be a sense of satisfaction when you put money into your deck, instead of a sense of disappointment.
That's what I'm kind of feeling right now and that's a crappy feeling.
Thanks for reading.
The whole game is desingned to force you to buy cards. Othewise you will lose more than you win!

It's true but it should be designed more towards enjoyment than about buying cards.
Exactly the hype of game is decreasing and they should do something to improve the game without the need to spend too much and just rely on speculation of cards value.
Im on the botton edges of the Gold league now, whereas last season it was the Diamond league. What happened? Everyone but us decided to upgrade their summoners by one or two?
It's possible the higher ranked players are still rising up to the ranks and are therefore hanging around gold longer than they usually do, but I really also think that more people have put money into their decks making it harder and harder to rise up. It's probably going to get harder every season.

I think the problem is when you reach Diamond and go back to Gold you get to keep the levels from Diamond even when you are competing in Gold.
I think that's a factor but not the only factor.
It is definitely harder this season but that's not a bad thing. I've still managed to get into diamond the last few seasons without putting money in.
Do the dailies to level up the reward deck. There's some good cards in there.
I hear what you are saying about leveling summoners. I'm feeling heat there. Need to get them all up a level.
Don't feel gipped. With every update and season, the game evolves.
And you probably have a pretty decent deck. :)
P.S Comment to win a gold Creeping Ooze in my contest
I do have a pretty decent deck but it's getting harder to win. I really think some changes need to come up soon in order to get new players that aren't willing to spend hundreds on their decks. I did comment on your contest.
True.
It would take some serious grinding to start new and not pay money.
There should be a beta pack reward as well.
I assumed it was hard because the better players are still rising through the ranks. If you happen to log in when there are future champions in your league then it will be hard.
Last season I touched Diamond briefly and found it impossible to win even a single match. A few days later, though, I was able to make Diamond and hold that position until the season ended.

I don't think it usually takes this long. These people seem to be hanging around in the gold league.
Also once you get a position that's considered your permanent position, so if you hit champion and then go all the way back down to bronze you're still going to get paid out for Champion.
I’m having the same problem but I find when the season ends , all the high diamond decks are booted back down to gold so they need to get out but I agree . It is way harder. Don’t get reason why ur not doing rewards anymore . You can sell them for more death cards. Hopefully summoners will come to rewarddeck and problem solved

I think it'll get better later in the season. But it is also normal for the competition to get tougher and games like that are always money pits for fervent gamers. The more competitive it becomes, the bigger the investments.
