HOW does one ''RANK UP'' in the STEEMIT platform? YouTube IS DYING HELP ! Sick of my daytime JOB !

I'm sort of dabbling with Steemit now for a few days and am still not sure of the mechanics of this entire thing.

At the moment I have a somewhat ''successful'' YouTube channel about fitness/bodybuilding but very much would wish to expand to Steemit as I only hear great things about it and to be frank, I see a lot of people making big bucks with writing articles.

Could someone, anyone give me some good pointers as of how to get more exposure on Steemit so that I can finally quit my daytime job. Unfortunately I still need the income but I feel as if it is limiting me in my time that I could spend doing something far greater and fun like making videos and articles.

So should I focus on writing blogs on Steemit and link to my YouTube videos or is it better to upload to DTube?
These are (noob) questions that I have.

And do I need to follow other Steemit users and comment on their posts to rank up?

Anyways these are a few things on my mind now I will look into how to figure most of this stuff out again first thing in the morning.
