How to get ready for the LAND expansion!

Will you be prepared for the land expansion! Now is the time to invest!

Hey Splinterlands family! I wanted to take a minute to share all of the things I'm doing to prepare for the upcoming land expansion to the game! Please do your own research and don't take any of this as financial advice! A lot of what I will be discussing is speculation based on vague information given in AMAs. Nothing should be regarded as fact!

We know some vague outlines of what the land expansion will provide. You can get most of the available information at:

https://www.splintercards.com/lands.html https://docs.splinterlands.com/land

In recent AMAs they have alluded to a few things not included in that resource link.

Staked SPS will play a role in lands production value. I remember seeing some early numbers somewhere but I can't find it now but I think it said something like 10k staked SPS per land? If anyone can find that information from a previous AMA or Town Hall, please drop it in the comments!

They mentioned that monster cards working the land could be based on card power value and the number of monsters able to work will be limited in number.

This is how I imagine land will work:

  • Land will have multiple buildings to be built and at least 1 resource to be gathered.
  • Buildings will need to be upgraded which will probably require some combination of Vouchers and burning DEC because the game needs more DEC sinks and utility when the airdrops end.
  • Buildings will increase production of resources or allow for minting of new NFTs.
  • I believe that a summoner of sufficient level will be required to "work" the land with the monsters.
  • If the land is of a specific type that leans toward a splinter then the monsters from that splinter will receive a bonus when working the land.
  • I believe the number of monsters working the land will be limited simmilar to the number of monsters on a team so maybe 5-6 but may be higher with rarer land types.
  • I believe that it wont be as simple as just staking cards to a plot but you will have to interact regularly, kind of like completing missions on the Rising Star game.
  • You will have to select some monsters and a summoner to go complete some task like collecting a resource or minting an NFT or slaying a random monster to collect their essence then after a time you will have to come back and collect the rewards and commit them to a new task.
  • Some monster abilities may provide boosts to production like maybe a monster with Swiftness reduces the time needed for an action or a monster with repair may mint some NFTs faster.

What I'm doing to prepare for these things:

I currently own 2 plots of land but only have 6k staked SPS. I'm collecting my SPS from daily airdrops and combining that with DEC in liquidity pools on Tribaldex to maximize my airdrop rewards to accumulate as much SPS as possible ahead of the land release which will almost assuredly cause a spike in SPS value. I'd even consider selling 1 plot of land if an announcement raises the value enough that would allow me to sell it for SPS to maximize the value of 1 land. There is some added value in owning only 1 land because each land will have buildings that require resources and upgrades. It could be more profitable to maximize the production on a single land over spreading yourself thin over multiple but I'm preparing for both scenarios.

My cards are mostly suited for max silver in every splinter so I'm trying to pick 3 splinters to move up to max gold. I've chosen Life, Death, and Water to continue to progress into Gold level. I'm balancing CP and cards abilities to help me win more in ranked battles and tournaments.

  • I chose Life because I see incredible value in the prices of these cards. If all cards will be created equally then I believe Life cards present a great value here and in silver play life actually does very well in high mana cap battles.

  • I chose Death for similar value reasons but also, if speed stats on cards are valued in some way then this splinter will be very valuable with the high speeds on a lot of their cards.

  • I chose water because they have great melee and magic attackers and are great in silver/gold play. They are a bit more expensive in the current meta but they have great and inexpensive legendaries that will provide great CP value. Also, I have a GF legendary that I got in a pack. This is 12,500 CP for a single card!

Cards I've been focused on accumulating and why:

Neutral Cards

  • My most recent purchase is a max level GF Gargoya lion. This provided me with 4,987 CP for $30.78 with a neutral card. I believe this is one of the best values on the market right now!

  • I've got a lvl 5 GF Supply Runner which isn't the best CP/cost ratio but I use the card all the time in all 3 of these splinters for the swiftness ability and if speed is valued in land then this card will go way up in value!

Water Cards

The is my balanced deck that has strong melee/magic monsters with a variety of abilities and I have several high CP cards from packs opened in the past.

  • I've purchased enough regular foil Djinn Oshannus to get to max level which will be 5,775 CP for my water deck to go with my 12,500 CP from my GF River Hellondale.
  • Max level Pelacor Bandit over combined by 16 cards which will actually make it more valuable at 2184 CP
  • Lvl 6 GF FLYING SQUID at 1125 CP for its CP and I use this card all the time in ranked battles!

Life Cards

This is purely value driven based on the cheap prices of cards and value in silver/gold ranked play

  • I've leveled up my General Sloan to lvl 6 to compete in max gold level
  • I've accumulated enough Pelacor Conjurers over time to get max level for about $13 which is a great CP/cost ratio and the card is great for bronze and silver play.

Death Cards

This is my speed play in case monster speed is valued in Land

  • Max level Harklaw for $33 this card is a great value both in ranked play and for CP/cost ratio
  • Lira the Dark at $6 per BCX with added swiftness at level 3 this card is a fantastic value and is one of my favorite airdrops so far and I believe is one of the most undervalued legendaries in the game right now.
  • GF Nightmare this card also plays into the speed meta that I run with the death team. I have enough to get to level 7 currently but my goal is lvl 8. Since this is an Untamed common GF it provides 500 CP per BCX. This is equal to a CL Legendary regular foil but you can combine 38 cards to max level while CL Legendaries are limited to 11. This means this card has a max level CP value of 19,950 which makes it more valuable when the number of cards you can place on land is limited. I've been accumulating these over time for about $6.50 per BCX which makes them a good CP/Cost ratio and a great card for ranked battles as well!

So tell me what you think in the comments! What are you doing to prepare for land? How do you think the buildings will work? How will vouchers be integrated? How much DEC will buildings require when minting the new NFTs?

TL:DR

I'm focused on getting 10k SPS per land and High CP monsters with abilities could logically be useful in production like repair being able to speed up making items or swiftness reducing the time it takes to produce NFTs. Gold cards will be important to maximize CP since the number of monsters able to work the land will be limited. It's more about CP per card than CP per dollar making the previous editions GF cards most valuable.
