Just a quick question when doing a post I know it is wrong to copy posts but if you give credit to the author in the post can you do this without bringing the rep of your account down or is it still frowned upon?

I think the main thing to considers is, are you adding value? If your post is mostly stuff by others then you may not be. Anything you do include should be credited. I include music videos I found on some posts, but that will only be so I can comment on them. So be original and you should be okay.
