Shine of A New Bride

It's new. Give it more attention because it is new. The parts are new, the experiences are new. New is better, old things must be abandoned. The evidence you say? Well, it is new. Even when the old thing has proven itself to be tested and trusted, still swap it in favor of a new one. New is always better. There's no risk to trying out something new. Only when the shine rubs off do we realize how wrong we might have been. This unending pursuit for the next new thing eventually reaches a stale conclusion.

What's with new things that always spurs up excitement. Even when we know the maximum value it can bring, we almost always tend to overestimate its capacity when it begins. Whether it's a business prospect or even the start of a new relationship, there is seemingly a certain glow that accompanies the new. As with everything though, the shine eventually rubs off and so does our enthusiasm. Even when we perceive it to be good, it is difficult to maintain the excitement that accompanies the new.

When the shine does wear off, we always tend to under appreciate a good product. Always thinking that the alternative is better. It is simply in our nature to do so. It takes either a conscious effort or someone calling out those flaws in our thinking, at least if we're ready to listen. It has made many skeptical and hardened in their resolve to be unchanging. If something works why change it? Change is constant, but constant change without proper recourse to the now creates complications.

I look at the way we operate as a society today and wonder if we give much thought to some of the changes we push. From the gadgets and technology we make use of, to the societal reforms we keep pushing. Some are good, and have definitely made our lives better. Yet you get the feeling these days that better isn't the goal anymore when it comes to change. It is more about the desire to change that the actual need to see change happen. Once again, Change is constant, but constantly changing will lead to complications.

Hope you enjoyed my scattered thoughts.
