"I live here" - one of the campaign photography
This is the ONE question that dragged me into the world of photography. Spending hours and hours every night wondering how lives and ways of living can be different from one another didn't even give a closest hint. This is where I got started.
Right after I made up my mind to actually wonder around the streets and places to feed my curiosity, I knew that just knowing wouldn't satisfy me but I have the urge to share it with people who have the same curiosity as mine. That's where I picked up a camera to capture the lives on the other side of my perspective.
I know it's best to mind my own business and stop looking into others lives but that's not the case here. I just couldn't stop myself from doing so after seeing children straying on the street, and I wanted to help them in any way I can. I thought if I can capture their harsh lives and share it with people, there might be a better chance of helping them, and of course, my dreams come true. My photos got shared by people and later got the attentions of some non-profit organisations, where they contacted me in starting a campaign to raise fund for building schools and facilities for homeless and/or children from poor family where they can't even afford to send their children to elementary schools. A few month after the campaign was successfully funded, over 2,700 children (as of December 2017) were given education and necessary healthcare.
I always ask myself "Is this enough?", and my answer to myself will always be a big fat NO. I don't care if I have money to help the people all by myself, but being able to deliver the massage across the people to come together to help those in need is more than enough for me. Don't get me wrong, I want my photographs to be regarded as art and that would be more than I can dream of, but currently the actual results of being capable to help other would be my purpose of picking up my camera everyday as I build my skills in time to create a masterpiece photograph.
Cheers!!
