A few things in life can turn your existence upside down like a new baby!

My wife was expecting a baby any day now. Our 3 year old is a very (ver, very) energetic and lively little one. He is a big boy and can be a pleasant handful sometimes. Yesterday we were rearranging some things in our place in preparation for the new arrival, and our son proved to be quite difficult in that particular moment. At that moment, I put my arms around her and said that things will be okay. We both laughed at each other and she sighed ridiculously and said "honestly, why do we do this to ourselves". Literally at that moment it all started.

Last night, April 1st, Easter Sunday, April fool's day, my amazing wife gave birth to a 4.3 kg (9.48 lb) baby boy. The one day in the year that she didn't want him to be born on is April fool's day. Haha, well, I guess her wish didn't come true. He will probably never live it down at school. That's if people even believe him that it's his birthday.๐Ÿค•

We were blessed with a healthy and peaceful baby. It's unreal. He is actually here, we can hardly believe that he has us as parents. You know, at times like these I miss my parents. Being a young parent, I have often wanted my mom or my dad's advice. What I have opted to do is to try and remember how I was taught as a child, and try to identify what was effective and then try to apply it to my situation. All I can say is that life is going to be quite interesting for the next little while as I try and finish off my MSc.

My biggest advice that I would give myself from my 5 years of marriage would be to take it one day at a time. There were so many times that I felt overwhelmed when I thought of the long journey ahead. It all seemed to minimise when I lived in the present. Now, I'm gonna try and follow my own advice haha ๐Ÿ˜‚

Keep us in your prayers. I'm sure a lot of you can relate to this. Keep well and Happy Easter โ˜บ

Run as fast and as far as you can!!

Everywhere I look little monsters are busy taking over the world. Two of them have started in our house, carefully and manipulatively plotting their next move!

This is a warning to all the parents out there. They won't stop until they've taken over the world!

No, wait, what? That's what's supposed to happen. They're supposed to take over from us.

Never mind, false alarm. Just having a parenting moment ;)

Enjoy the new addition :)

Lol!!!hahaha. It's soooo true though. Masters of manipulation ๐Ÿ˜‚

Indeed. My wife firmly believes Hitler studied toddlers to learn how to manipulate the masses, lol

Congratulations, I am sure he will bring you much joy! ( until he becomes a teenager and thinks he is smarter than you) Lol.

Hahah๐Ÿ˜…sounds like you are talking ftom experience ๐Ÿ˜‚. Thank you for the comment and upvote. Really appreciate it

Congratulations. What a privilege, to have one of God's little ones join your family. Rich blessings to you all.

Thank you so much. It is indeed a blessing from God!

He will eventually get used to the teasing and develop an antidote! I was called "Jan van Riebeeck" at times in the history class (April 6) but thankfully was able to shake it off! Many "incidents" awaits young man, but if you can view them as "adventures" life becomes a bit easier! One day at a time is a good philosophy and all blessings to you and your family! Upvoted!

Thank you very much. April 6 is a great day to be born. Haha Jan van Riebeek๐Ÿ˜‚. Atleast these people knew their history haha

Congrats! Hahaha funny the one day she didnโ€™t want the bs y to be born !

Yup it can be very overwhelming , seeing as you are young that should by 10X !
One day at a time indeed . I have twin boys and boy are they a hand and two feet full ! Energy for days !
Have fun with the new born! All the best to you and the fam :)

Thanks man. Good luck with yours too. Can't imagine twins hey๐Ÿ˜–. Thanks for the support

When ever you feel overwhelmed just remember, "What if I had twins" LOL

Congrats... my son was almost born on April 1st as well... luckily he was to be born by cesarean, and the doc agreed to come in on the 2nd (which was a public holiday) just to deliver him.

Haha. Wow happy birthday to him for yesterday. Atleast he will avoid the jokes ๐Ÿ˜‚

Jubilations and congratulations young man. Good to see that smile back on your good wife's face. How grateful we are to the women in our lives.

Thanks you very much. So am I you have no idea!! INDEED. they make us who we are!

Oh Boy enjoy your boys, my two now 36 and 34 are best of friends.

Make the most of every moment, even when times are tough, project yourself into their age to try determine when they pushing it too far (that is what I did over the years).

That's great advice. I will definitely try it out๐Ÿ˜„. There is some hope then haha. Hope ours become friends๐Ÿ˜Š

Congratulations he is a beautiful baby boy and the other boy equally cute. You will make it as you say living in the present. I do a love and marriage blog and I just today wrote about the challenges of children if you are interested.

I will check it out. Blogs is really great to read as I feel people are real. When you read articles on parenting, I feel like people often make unrealistic statements etc. Thanks for the comment

Congratulations on the baby boy!

Yes, having that birth date really is going to be troublesome in the future for him. I know a few people who have birthdays on that day and so I know they kind of need to bring an ID with them on their birthday or else nobody will take them seriously!

I am also a young dad but mine are 10 and 8 and I am not having any more than that! haha!

Go well!

Hah good idea. Get them to have their id's on them. Haha 2 kiddies is a lot! Makes you wonder how the previous generations had so many kids.

Full time parents in the house for the most part. I hear about my grandmother who was a teacher with 3 kids, but her parents had 11 kids. My great grandmother had no other job other than staying at home looking after those kids. If that was not her full time job it would have been impossible I think

The previous generations were heck dedicated hey. Thanks for sharing

Congratulations!! May both your sons live significant lives filled with joy and great health.
I think it is awesome that your son was born on Resurrection Sunday, the greatest day in history.
Thank you for sharing your joy with your Steemian friends.
