OCDB has a downvote and upvote trail on Steemauto now!

in #ocd5 years ago

After hearing about Steemauto's new addition of a downvote trail we decided to set one up with @ocdb as we have been focused on downvoting purchased bid bot votes lately.

TL;DR why downvoting bid bot votes.

Bid bots sell profitable votes, receiving profitable votes is unfair to everyone not buying profitable votes, everyone wouldn't be able to buy profitable votes anyway since bid bots only have so much stake to go through. When bid bots receive a bid and give you a profitable vote, they and their delegators earn higher profits than honest curators which is unfair and undermines the EIP and content discovery. On top of all of that buying votes gives the purchasers an unfair advantage to beat the taxing curve compared to everyone else.

If no one bought votes, bid bots are forced to curate, which we have seen them do lately more and more. Since we can't stop them from selling, we have to discourage buyers from buying, luckily most people seem to understand this and are all in for testing #newsteem and the EIP as most bid bot votes we downvote are generally only purchased for the profit hoping no one will downvote them before payout is due and the quality is mostly very low.

Anyway, if you aren't using your downvoting mana and aren't afraid of some random account retaliating on you, then head on over to https://steemauto.com, give them authority through steemconnect and search for us in the "downvote trail" section and follow with a certain downvote percentage. We will not let our downvote % go under 0 and it won't take from your upvote mana.

If you like the way @ocdb curates, following our previously known "whitelist" and curating them manually based on content and plenty of other factors among other things such as onboarded content creators and a hand of smaller curation communities then feel free to also follow us on the "curation trail" if you are a passive investor/user who doesn't have time to curate.

Here you can see our voting activity in the past 30 days

After a few "counters" of retaliation downvotes on curation initiatives from curangel and theycallmedan we decided to leave countering be for now and just focus on curating.

We understand if you don't want to follow our downvote trail, there has been a lot of retaliation on damage on our personal accounts and the post rewards of the curators at @ocd as well but that's the price you have to pay to try and change steem for the better.

We appreciate your support either way and thank you for reading.

Post rewards going 50% to @ocd curators and 50% to steem.dao.

Nice! Just followed your downvote trail on SteemAuto. So glad they finally got around to implementing this.

Things have changed here since I had to leave/power down and focus on work and my kiddo I used a bid bot on a couple of my post, so please feel free to downvote them. Glad to see things have moved away from bid bots. It felt like for a long time that smaller people had to use them to get some notice

Thanks for the great attitude towards it! :)

Of course, honestly, I think this is for the best anyways!

Off to give the trail a follow.

is there any curation reward for downvote as well?

No there is not, I wonder how that would work psychologically, though.

Fucking great idea!

Wow. Lovely curating pattern. I love the way you guys motivate more original post and articles. Great job. I would have given my own upvote as well. But No SteemPower. But I think Resteem too will go along way too.

price of steem proves your downvoting of bid bot experiment is not working. market doesnt lie. Now bid bot owners will just leave steem

ive had projects downvoted after receiving an organic bid bot vote, while is ee downvoters of bid bot posts get upvoted by teh same bid bots. and no one downvotes them,. so yeah its justa joke

steem is going to be golos price soon less than a penny, this pushes everyone to triubes

you dont have enough users active for "content discovery"

all i see on trending is a circle jerk from teh same boring group of bloggers who write the WORST boring blogs

what's the easiest way to find the accounts that buy bids, especially the ones that wait a few days. is there a list?

Yeah not so easy, some seem to spam it up with sending rewards to delegators as often as possible too...

Follow ocdb's trail?

No idea in general but I think there is the bottracker somewhere that shows buys. The more difficult ones are those who are buying through SE tokens and using beneficiaries as kickbacks.

steem-peg and that sort of steemsmartcontracts and similar puzzling malarkeys or something like that? };)Hey @tarazkp! By chance, are you referring to accounts like

edited: not following any trail (will check to see what they downvote though)

Think the idea of auto following anyone is a dumb idea. if anyone follows me and i find out, i will start downvoting them lol

Yep, I agree, especially for flags... Downvotes.

might need to eat my words, seems they are doing a pretty good job as an organized group

Trails and autos are good for those who aren't going to or aren't able to search themselves. I know that for some they struggle to identify abuse well. Not everyone would want to trail ocdb though as they target people who may retaliate.

yeah how can people tell if a bid bot is giving organic or paid upvote? people are just downvoting if someone gets an organic upvote.

bid bot owners should be free to sell a vote, or there will bea black market AND you will se bid bot owners just manually upvoting whoever sends them the most Bitcoin via blocktrades

bid bot owners should be free to sell a vote,

And anybody that cares about the success of steem should be downvoting them.
I got no problem with buying votes for others, but as an attack vector it needs to go.

We are setting our culture for the future.
Most people don't want to have to pay to play.
Most people want organic voting.
If somebody is on the wrong side of that, they should sell their stake, imo.

a non-profit bid bot and now I'm trying to enforce the EIP that came with the hardfork yes, it's getting pretty annoying though with all the retaliation and people thinking they know better without knowing much by their fast judgements

Because compared to other for profit bid bots that you use it was doing the least damage to the currency you are funding your "charity" with. Not gonna bother replying to you anymore, we are downvoting most people using bid bots, just because you maybe aren't taking a cut for yourself doesn't mean it's not unfair to everyone not using bid bots or delegating to them but curating instead.

Tschüss

You're ignoring the EIP, if people thought it was a worthy cause they would upvote it more without you having to buy votes which undermines the EIP, no?

Btw most charities are scams so unless made absolutely clear how every steem is spent I consider anything labeled charity a cover for someone to middleman profit off of it.

ignoring the fact that the upvote was bought by someone else.

No I checked that most votes were bought by this user who seems to mainly resteem your content so it being "someone else" is hard to believe but if it really is then tell him to donate directly instead of enriching bid bot owners and their delegators so you can get a profitable vote which takes from everyone else not buying votes and not delegating to bid bots. If you still have trouble understanding the economics here and how free money can't just appear without someone else losing out on it when the reward pool is limited than you're either delusional or just don't care and want to be right and make our downvoting which we get nothing out of except retaliation downvotes and this bullshit drama then I'm done trying to explain anything further to you.

Yeah cause auto robot curation is just so awesome. :(

I think the change could have been nice with just one free upvote and without your killer bot turning this into a gestapo ran blockchain.

I still think you should remove your unfair downvotes.

Have you even bothered to really look at my account???

I have earned like 25 fricken cents a day!!!

You think it's easy doing like 1,000 or so bot bids to earn 25 fricken cents a day! :(

It wasn't all about the money for me. I used to be bullish about Steem and Steemit but fortunately now there is Leo and Steemleo.com

When bid bots receive a bid and give you a profitable vote, they and their delegators earn higher profits than honest curators which is unfair and undermines the EIP and content discovery.

From what I understand when a bidbot a sell votes the more profitable that vote is the less money the bot/delegators make. The more inconsiderate you are at downvoting bidbots buyers the more you make bidbots profitable for those that remains.

Why would earn more than honest curators? Bidbots respond with votes to clear text memos and vote with about a 2 hours lag, That's the worst thing to do to increase curation reward.

In the past and even more at the moment it's about twice more profitable to be a part of a self-vote circlejerk. BTW It's not very hard to pool 32 000$ worth of voting power and be on the upper end of the curation curve

Exactly what reasonable non group think business friendly people are trying to say. Thanks. Yeah they are only hurting minnows who can only buy small upvotes, those are who they go after, the only ones whose posts they can really negate. largest bid bot users get away without feeling it as much, they think its somehow "fair" when its not. They are like central committee members in the politburo, trying to micromanage the trending page heh.
