7-Day Wayback Music Challenge - Inis Mona

Welcome to day 5
Song: Inis Mona

from Swiss folk metal band Eluveitie

Thank you @backinblackdevil for nominating!

Do you know the band Eluveitie? You should! They are great musicians and yes obviously i love them. If you don't like the heavy song I pinned above, check out this song from their acoustic album. I also wrote a post about them... already fucking 8 months ago, wow time is running! Post linked here if you want to know more about them.

Inis Mona was the first song I heard from this band with the crazy name Eeeeluuuuveeeiiitiiiiie - i think this is how it sounded when I first tried to pronounce it. My friends convinced me to visit a little one-day-festival with them and I have not known any of the bands so I gave them a listen. Eluveitie quickly became my favorite because I love the mix with the heavy music and instruments like the hurdy-gurdy, violin or pipes.
Since then I saw them live around 6 times of which 1 even was a wonderful acoustic show in a little tent on the Summer Breeze festival last year. Everytime was great and every concert has an own story and background that I'll never forget.
Meeting new people, enjoying the music together, partying with metal friends on several festivals and concerts - there are so many good memories that come up when I listen to this song. I don't think i can ever "over-listen" it.

Inis Mona is the name of an isle. Modern sciene assumes that the ancient Inis Mona is todays Isle of Anglesey in the north of Wales. On Inis Mona the most relevant druid college of the Celtic world was established. Celtic tribes from all over Europe sent their youth to that isle, so that they could enjoy the highest druidic education, which took at least 20 years. Our song deals with an old and reputable gaulish druid in the eve of his life, looking back and pondering over his life and days long gone. Most of his life was spent serving as a wise counsellor, lawyer, scientist, teacher, doctor, physician. In other words: As druid at his clans chieftains court. Being content with that, he secretly still thinks back and moons over the years of his youth, which he spent on Inis Mona during his education. Years that have formed his life forever...

This was it for the fifth day - thank you for reading!
