I'm 34 years old & I've never had a 'proper' job. You know, the kind that involves daily battles with alarm clocks, endlessly renewing travel cards & unhealthy quantities of poor quality take-out. I say this with a mixture of pride and embarrassment. Shouldn't everyone have to embrace the rigours, the discipline of a conventional 9 to 5 job at some point in their life? Wouldn't I eventually begin to enjoy it, to embrace it, to grow? What have I been missing out on?
These are questions I may never be able to answer, since I had the fate of falling (with almost zero planning) into a thriving career as a music artist / producer & DJ in my early 20's, which has kept me (insanely) busy ever since. Music was always a passion, and, unlike most, my path into the industry couldn't have been smoother. Since then I've had (and lost) major label deals more than once, won awards (no Grammy yet but hey), had over 15 million plays on Spotify & songs played on every radio station you can think of, produced & mixed tracks on Number 1 albums and performed across the globe from Tasmania to Puerto Rico alongside heritage artists from Wu Tang to Jamiroquai to Deadmau5. All working from the comfort of a home studio set-up, and from a minimal investment. If it sounds crazy, that's cause life is stranger than fiction..
What am I doing here, you ask? Well, there is much I wish to share with my fellow Steemers. And considering my wealth of experience within music, in performing, writing, mixing & doing deals...why not start there?
My first articles will expose the inner workings of the music industry through my own continued experience. Personal reflections, mad recollections, general renegade musings & inside info about the realities of the industry. I won't be writing about Taylor Swift's latest releases.
Under the circumstances I will be retaining anonymity on this account which allows me to go into a deeper & frankly more scandalous level of detail. That's the beauty of this site. If all goes well, my manager & work-partner have promised to allow me to create an official Steemit artist page. If not, I will continue to lurk and post the occasional dumb comment. Steemit is driven by media with no mainstream agenda: through that core philosophy I aim to provide something different & exciting.
Translation - undercover artist posting the kinda shit you don't / won't see on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram & the technocratic media networks.
Back in a jiffy :D
