See no Evil - you are what you see

With the advanced internet penetration we are experiencing today, we have access to an enormous amount of data than our ancestors could ever imagine in their entire lifetime. With Google we can literally do anything, we can see places that we may never go to, we can get directions all around the world, by just possessing a mobile phone or a laptop. The world is truly in our hands, and this is because of the quality of data we own, data that if we don’t manage very well, maybe come to a challenge for us. So, in the midst of this digital excitement, what are the things we can do to manage and sieve through what is right or wrong content to consume.

There are people out there that enjoying gore, and all sorts of disturbing and obscene images and videos, I believe we may have some of them on our WhatsApp contact. This bunch enjoy such content, and they go at length to expose this content on their timeline which may ruin the mind of others who find this content repugnant. I don’t mean to sound condescending if you enjoy such content, that’s your preference, but be aware that others may not share your enthusiasm in the consumption of this imageries, as it may distort their mind flow, and cost them a lot of mental refortification to debunk such images from their minds.

Dealing with What we see

Our eyes are is the light of the body, and the information the eyes sees is what the brain will process and give some interpretation to. So, whatever we listen to, watch or see on a daily basis, reinforces itself into our subconscious. And depending on what we see, we become what we see, by talking about it, watching more and more of it, and eventually, we become what we always watch and listen to. And repetitive consumption of such content may result in having scary dreams where we see such images, or we will gravitate towards things with a scary or disturbing aura, and in some cases, one might start fantasizing about such imagery.

If you are already into the voracious consumption of this kind of content and hope to desist from it, the easiest way to achieve that is to limit the amount of gory content you consume and mix it up with other content. Because the easiest way to stop a bad habit is to replace it with a better habit. This way, you get to see better content that has a more humane touch and feel, without gore, dead bodies weird and freaky occurrences.

Be Highly Selective

This should be the golden rule of this generation, if a content will not make you rich, make you happy or make you better, then you should not be watching, reading or listening to it. If it doesn’t any sort of value to your being, then it is an absolute waste of time and resources because it is not going to make you happy in any way, nor will it make you rich, not to think of it making you better. Like I said earlier, it is an astute waste of time, and we all know that time is the currency with which our lives are measured by.

You should spend your time wise consuming content that will inform you in a given field of interest, or help you re-enforce your belief in a given faith. Also, you can watch things that intrigue you, things like the solar system or space in general, there is a sea of content out there that one could possibly consume, but gore or other disturbing images shouldn’t be one of them.

Our eyes and ears are the door ways to our minds and our minds shape our actions. What we see or hear often influences who we become. The only way we can reconfigure our minds to start dwelling on better things is to start feeding our eyes and ears with resources that stirs positive virtues. What you feed you mind with is what it'll bring out to you. Let's be careful of the sort of information we grant access into our minds

Your recommendations are very good but who do they address? People who are looking for bad things will not read your post, unfortunately.
