Am a self confessed former TV addict whose dreams almost got ruined by Television. Throughout my school days I followed programs on different channels and went as far as creating a timetable for them just to accommodate the multitudes of shows that were broadcast. This consumed the greater part of my life until last year when I slowly started pushing away from this habit after realising the dead end I was leading to.
My life is more productive now as I always get time for activities that make me a better person which could never happen in the past. TV is a big hindrance in reaching our maximum potential when we don't regulate it. Many other activities are put on hold during TV time which is usually more than 2 hours, enough to move you a step ahead in reaching your goals if used well. The shows that never stop airing day after day week after week don't gain you anything more than polluting your head with a bunch of story lines that are not going to be part of your success story.
Researchers discovered the immense damage TV does to our brains when they found out it shuts down the higher brain regions and shifts the activity to the lower brain regions. This makes the brain under utilised and it fails to perform the tasks expected of it. Our brain has a lot of potential to make a big difference in our lives and TV takes all this away from us. Take charge of your time and end the damage TV is making to your life. There are multitudes of activities that can substitute TV including reading a book, exercising, maintaining your residence. Slowly you'll realise opportunities watching TV was stealing away from you.
