Of course we have gotten soft as a culture, in the US, Europe and any "western country" (whatever that means). The US has gotten an incredible 200 year run, right, but we have to be honest that the culture has gotten soft. People these days can not handle discomfort anymore, let's face it, adult men and women start to scream and rage when they don't get enough cream in their Starbucks coffee. When that is allowed by people have started to find it normal, it says a lot about a culture.
My lack of interest in complaining and listening to complaints is so high and when I hear what people actually complain about, it breaks my heart because they are totally out of perspective. Yo, people have to start understanding that there has never been a better time to be alive, especially for humans. Even in these strange inbetween times of political unrest where war might be looming. My happiness and optimism comes from the fact that I have done my homework, I kind of understand what people were going through 500 years ago. I would have been hanged and burned at the stake so many times for the things I have said, thought and expressed.
We are living in a time of infinite potential. People should start to wake up to this fact and I'm optimistic that we slowly are doing that as a collective. We can communicate to the other side of the world, we can earn money by speaking our mind. We can even create a 6 figure company with an investment of less than 500 bucks. These days anything is possible.
Why it is not happening for so many people is because they are of the opinion that their life sucks, well let me tell you sir, or madam, you need to find some perspective.
Another reason is the fact that people are not willing to put in the work anymore. Because of all the instant access to entertainment; all the porn, netflix, supermarkets and fast food, people have forgotten or are not willing to accept that is takes diligence, or consistency, to build anything.
To be successful in anything, that might be a business, or it could be transforming your body into your strongest and most aesthetic physique, it could be learning new skills, we must be grounded in the following four properties:
- Organisation To actually be able to make a plan, fill a schedule and stick to it.
- Prudence To be wise about it, making the right choices. To have common sense.
- Diligence The ability to put in the effort that's required, to grind your axe, consistency.
- Perfectionism Not willing to accept any standard that is below your personal measure.
Thank you, for the positive and uplifting message. Without hard work, commitment and sacrifice, little that is worth having is possible. Here's Nietzsche weighing in:
What is essential “in heaven and on earth” seems to be, to say it once more, that there should be obedience over a long period of time and in a single direction: given that, something always develops, and has developed, for whose sake it is worthwhile to live on earth; for example, virtue, art, music, dance, reason, spirituality—something transfiguring, subtle, mad, and divine.
That's the dao, the path, the direction in which you walk. You have to be obedient to your higher voice who knows the direction.
Nietzsche was a wise man, misunderstood by many.
Amen, brother. Yes, I can see that we face the same direction... By way of further introduction, here, is a review of my new book, Where Epics Fail by a fellow Steemian, that you might enjoy:
