The Allegory of Online Video Games and the Resilience of Players...

in #mindset6 years ago

Hi, dear friends!

There is something quite interesting about seeing online video game players and the efforts they put in to win in the game of their choosing!
Gamers sometimes show an amount of resiliency that is almost dreamlike in the real world, and if I ever see any man as dedicated to his craft and lifestyle as some gamers are to particular games, my life would be complete!
Bear with me as I make my case about resiliency in the world of business and success!

In most online games with RPG elements, players have to grow up through the ranks and slowly level up. At first, it is a frustrating experience, as many professional players or those who have been around for a longer time can make the game a living hell for you.
You have to tolerate through the humiliation and the struggle to finally find your footing and challenge other players. It is difficult and it also takes time. It takes both patience and resilience.
But with all the difficulties involved, the players take pleasure in indulging the gameplay and its mechanics.
But why does something like that rarely happen in life? The same gamer would not do so well under pressure in real life circumstances. So, why do it in the game and not in the real world?

The thing is, when it comes to gaming, you don’t have anything to lose. You may lose progress and other in-game values, but it is not too much of a risk. Whereas, in real life, you are facing with real dilemmas and circumstances.
The central issue is fear. When you put in the time to progress in some game, you may lose this progress and have to start at square one, but it is not going to cost you anything other than time and energy.
In a real-life situation, when you struggle hard for some job or put in some effort to realize your goal, you will fear failure and rejection.
Because this is too important. This is your life, your future, and your livelihood. So, the fear of rejection or failure will not just be something that you could do all over again. The failure could destroy your spirit and give you depression for quite a while.

We can do one thing in this regard. For people who fear failure or rejection but are generally determined and dedicated in other aspects of their lives, they should see their effort not as a journey for life, but a simple game that you could always restart.
If you are that sort of person, do not think of it as working for your life and future, think about it like a video game where you are trying to be successful. Consider the fact that even if you fail, you can always start again.
After all, even in real life, you are not going to die or exhaust your own resources. All that is going to waste is your time. (That is hardly true, since we could not see it as waste, but gaining experience.)
Take your efforts in life less seriously! Be determined and resilient in performing the tasks, but see it as merely a game that you could start all over again!

A BIG HUG!!!

Hello,
If some gamers would take their life as serious as the game, they would be unbeatable successful. But there is a big difference, in online games you're anonymous, in real you have to face the problems, look in the eyes or talk face to face with someone, that's a big difference.
Have a great day
Tom

Excellent review @chbartist and you are right, we should not think that if we failed on a certain part of the road, then this is the end of the world and nothing can be done. You just need to think and reload your thinking to find a solution and continue our journey to success!

Great lesson from video games. I'm not a gamer but I know the dedication of the players to know the how about of the game just to win. At first, entrepreneurship, careers, and others fail us but we should have the resilience of a gamer to win the game of success. Thanks for sharing sir.

It's a very strange way of looking at life, but it sounds interesting, the players are so passionate about winning, that it would be good if we were that passionate.

The metaphore is very accurate and deep. In some occasions we are very competitive and we try our best to win while, in others, we have a defeatist mind -usually when it comes to real life-. I think that sometimes we should act like kids: they never give up and they always want to improve.

Oh yeah!
If we don't believe in life after death, then we obviously fear the game of life.

I don't like game playing on line this is my personal opinion loss of time.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

@chbartist video gaming is a most funny and motivational aspect of life. Incredibly every I play a new race of need4speed, about 50 times I lose the 4 rounded race but I never giveup and ultimate win. I think a success life based on the same rules. Anyway I like this because mostly it interpret my routine life. EA games accept the challenge...... ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

Life is also a game. Just as we are playing a video game, we are often defeated, and then we do not leave it but try to win it. Similarly, in life, we are losing in many situations. Then we will come up with a new situation Should be ready to win.Very powerful post @chbartist

Sir please add me in your community..

Thank you @chbartist

Since I'm new to the plattform I'm discovering something truly special, this is very different from any social network that I've tried, mostly on the fact that there's so much positivity in everyone's mindset. I dig that

That aside, it was a very interesting take on videogames and specially in online gaming, I spend most of my free time gaming and can only agree with you. Thanks for collaborating

really liked this post, I will convert my Nino Kuni 2 adventures into real life :D

Good congratulations friend

It also shows how to feel the value of your efforts in order to provide the confidence needed to remain resilient in our goals and success in due time. Great analogy!

You have raised a good point failing , succeeded to next level then failing it is the part of life. We should not be afraid of failure but should treat it as our companion because it teaches us how to grow, what mistakes we are doing and act accordingly .
Learn by experience is very important, life will be easy if we could find that restart button that will reenergise us to chase our dreams. Thanks

On point
Thanks for sharing

I see video games as the modern equivalent of Roman games. They have a numbing effect preventing us from thinking about how obscenely screwed governed we are. Without them battle royale would be the real thing.
