Happy Anniversary to us!

in #love7 years ago (edited)

Exactly six years ago today, we made a decision to become a couple . For those of you that already read our earlier stories about how we met (This is how we met - according to Nina and This is how we met - according to Hans), you know that it was quite a long and difficult, but also unique and beautiful story. It started already six years before we met, with chatting for hours every(!) day and night without meeting for real. When we look back at those years before we met, it is quite wondrous that we didn't give up on each other and went separate ways. Somehow both of us seemed to believe in a different future. Even after we met we had to wait another year before we finally could call ourself a couple.

The 20th of January 2012, about this time of the day, we started a long, long talk about our romantic relationship, what we meant about it and what we wanted about it. We finally shared all our inner thoughts and feelings and even our doubt. The doubt was mainly about whether a love relation would actually work out, mainly due to very different childhood and the way we were raised. Despite the doubt, all what we talked about made us realise that we shared the same feelings for each other, the same hopes and wishes. We wanted to try and decided to continue our romantic relation on a higher level.

Today we celebrate the decision we made that day and that we are still together. We started the day today with a disaster of a Chia porridge(!), which led to quite some time spent on the toilet. Nina had been told that it was so easy to make. «Just mix the Chia with something nice and tasty, put it in the refrigerator, wait till the next day and than eat it with fresh fruits». Pretty easy. Obviously something went wrong as the porridge was more like a lumpy soup. (Un)fortunately we were too distracted to figure out what went wrong, so we forgot to make a photo of the lumpy soup. Maybe next time.

After Nina had a refeshing skiing trip in -11 Celsius degrees, it was time to start preparing the dinner. It really took quite some time. We made Spanish tortilla (fried potatoes mixed with egg) with salad of cauliflower with hazelnuts, ruccula and beetroot labneh. It was delicious and way better than expected. The onion got a little burned, but apart from that it was pretty close to perfect. This is how it looked:

As said the dinner tasted close to perfect and we ate till we had no room left. The desert on the other hand, Dutch Apple Pie with whipped cream, didn't turn out that well. The filling of the apple pie was delicious though. We made it with different types of apples to give it some more taste, with no sugar, a lot of cinnamon and a few raisins. But the dough was awful. All the butter, although we used less than the receipt told us, made us feel sick once more.

In short; a wonderful day and six wonderful years. Of course, as everyone else, we also had our ups and downs. But all the lovely moments with exciting experiences and great memories we have shared, have shadowed the bad ones. All the time we have spent together, including the bad ones, has made us realise what we have and appreciate each other for who we truly are. We have maintained our love through good and bad times, and we aim to continue like this.

Happy Anniversary to us!

Congratulations on your day 😄 I’m so happy for you both 😊❤️

Thank you so much! We are happy too 😃.

Cheers for the both of you! :) You two are so lucky for finding each other despite the fact that the world is so big. Maybe it would become so small like an elbow room for the two people who are destined for each other. ❤❤❤

Good luck and God bless on your relationship. A lot of great experiences for you are yet to come.
