Hi!
Tez here - a mother of a 7 year old boy and twin girls! I will introduce myself by giving insight on how my life was with my twin girls in their first 2 years!
A lot of people told me either you'd have "twice the blessing!" or "double-trouble!" when I was pregnant!
When they were born, strangers from all walks of life approached me in the grocery stores, malls, parks, etc... to look at our twins! Especially those who are a twin themselves, have twin relatives, or just curios to see if my girls look alike!
I have spent more time shopping for their clothes, shoes, hair accessories, etc. more than I spent with my son & myself combined! This is pretty obvious right? Since there's two of them! But the difficult part though is that I always want them to match! You see, a man I met in Costco said he has twins too. And when his twin girls turned 13, they stopped wanting to wear the same outfit!
I'd rather be sick, than any one of them including my son! Because when one get sick, it's a matter of time before the other one gets sick too! Or worse, they all get sick at the same time!
I have learned that as identical as my girls are in terms of some physical attributes, they are so different in their personalities! They love each other deeply and are fiercely loyal in helping each other out (mind you, at 2 I can see how they defend each other from their brother) but they do fight! Especially when they want the same toy that their brother owns!
I have realized that having an older brother influenced my twin girls a lot especially in terms of choice of toys! They do not care for dolls or tea sets but love legos, toy cars, toy swords, and did I say legos???!
And lastly, I can definitely say that having twins is a great blessing but it comes with a lot of work! Not just the physical aspect of work, but the emotional ones too! I have experienced to be more patient, understanding and loving! During the first twelve months of my girls' lives, I often find myself asking, why me? But now, after two years, I often say, thank you I was chosen to be their mother!
