Over the past 10 years, a variety of studies have been conducted in the leading institutions of the world on the effects of meditation on a person. One of the most recent major research was the experiment of scientists at the Harvard Institute, which was attended by 16 people. Each day for eight weeks, study participants were supposed to practice meditation for 30 minutes.

The experiment participants had brain MRI scans twice - once every two weeks before the start of the study, and a second time after the participants had already completed a meditation course.

The conclusion of the scientists is stunning: “in just eight weeks of meditation, the structure of the brain has literally been restructured”

Analysis of MRI images showed that after eight weeks of meditation, participants in the experiment increased the density of gray matter in the brain area (hippocampus) responsible for memory and learning, as well as in the brain regions responsible for self-awareness, compassion and self-analysis.

If you summarize dozens of studies, the brief conclusions of the scientists will be: meditation changes the brain structure, increases gray matter, improves memory and concentration, effectively treats depression, stress, addiction, anxiety disorders, boosts immunity, lowers blood pressure, reduces the risk of heart attack, develops compassion and empathy.
