Choice is the most important factor in human life. It either lead to satisfaction or dissatisfaction of output in future.
It is an act of choosing between two or more possibilities. You can also say it is process of making decision or judging. It include judging the advantages of multiple option and choosing one of them. People usually try to choose the option which have better merits and which give them better satisfaction.
Most people regard having choices as a good thing, though a severely limited or artificially restricted choice can lead to discomfort with choosing, and possibly an unsatisfactory outcome. In contrast, a choice with excessively numerous options may lead to confusion, regret of the alternatives not taken, and indifference in an unstructured existenceand the illusion that choosing an object or a course, necessarily leads to the control of that object or course, can cause psychological problems.
I don't know about other people but I usually prefer having a listed number of choice so that I can choose better option for me. People are made selfish and so am I, who wouldn't want to have a choice which have better merits and can take you to good roads- roads of success. There is no doubt that most of people wants that.
There are two kind of choices that are already set up in the society. The choice where everyone get the satisfaction output or we can say same output. These days people are afraid of taking risk and usually choose a choice that everyone take where everyone get same output and no one have dissatisfaction towards the choice they made. We can say this choice as unrisked choice where everyone is happy and everyone win.
Another choice is that type of choice where everyone doesn't gets to win or doesn't get same output. Either they get satisfied from their choice or dissatisfied. In this kind of choice people like to take a risk on the choice they make. Everyone doesn't like to see others to win, some people wants to stand above others so they either loose or win. This kind of choice is called risked choice where there is no guantee you can win or lose.
These are the type of choice I came with after doing some research and hope you can relate to it:
Puzzle in choosing
We may use it to describe any sort of choice and its outcomes, it really represents a choice where we have two outcomes but both of them are equally unwelcome. Our task here is to then choose between one of these unpleasant outcomes. As an example, puzzle in choosing between two unwelcome choice would be where you need to choose between two food which you don't like but you know that you both are going to taste bad.
One thing or nothing
One thing or nothing choice is a choice where we get a choice between one thing or nothing. This terminology is typically applied where the thing we are offered is not what we really wanted. An example of this Choice would be arriving home late and having a choice between unappealing food or no food at all.
Moral choice
We have to make a choice between two desirable things, knowing that once we had chosen, we can never choose the other thing as well. So moral choice has a connotation of being a very hard choice with tragic consequences. However, the same sort of choice can arise in everyday situations. If two friends invited us to their party at the same time on the same day, that would be a moral choice.
Other options
It's also important to mention here that choosing is not simple. The choices that are offered to you may not be all of the possible choices that you can make. Other possible choices might appear if you think about the problem longer. Whenever we are faced with a problem that looks like a choice between different things, it's useful to know what sort of choice were actually facing. Secondly, it's also good for us to know exactly what choices are open to us in the understanding that they might be broader and wider than we think they are.
There are many factors that influence the choice in life. There are many people around the world where they are not getting proper supervision which lead them to bad road- roads full of regret. They don't know what choice they should make, due to lack of proper supervision they choose the choice which lead them to struggle and sorrow. The factors that influence on making choice are mentioned below:
Past experience :
Past experiences can impact future choice making. Many researcher indicated past choice influence the choices people make in the future. It stands to reason that when something positive results from a decision, people are more likely to decide in a similar way, given a similar situation. On the other hand, people tend to avoid repeating past mistakes. This is significant to the extent that future choice made based on past experiences are not necessarily the best decisions.Knowledge :
People often go to wrong way in their life which leads to sorrow and struggle because they do not have proper knowledge. Lack of knowledge directly influence their choice making. They don't know what benefit will they get if they choose this choice or others.Supervision and Advice :
We can say this is the most important factor that can affect directly on choice making. Proper advice and supervision is needed inorder to put people in right path. An advice from consultant or teachers should be given to make a right choice.Age and Individual difference :
The choice making abilities decline as a result of age. In addition, older people may be more overconfident regarding their ability to make choice, which inhibits their ability to apply strategies. Finally, with respect to age, older adults prefer fewer choices than younger adults.
Age is only one individual difference that influences choice making. People in lower Socio Economic Status groups may have less access to education and resources, which may make them more susceptible to experiencing negative life events, often beyond their control; as a result, low Socio Economic Status individuals may make wrong choice, based on past decisions.
- After a choice
After the choice is made, people experience a variety of reactions. In addition, present choice influence future choice making. Several of the outcomes that may result from a choice are regret or satisfaction; both of which influence upcoming choices. Regret, feelings of disappointment or dissatisfaction with a choice made is one potential outcome of choice making. Interestingly, regret may shape the choice making process.
These are the factors which may influence on making a choice in your life. So before making choice in life make sure to pay attention to these factors. "What benefits will I get if I choose this choice and what happen if I choose other? " Is the question that should be thought of while making decision. So while making choice always try to find the merit of that choice so that could lead you to a better path. If you don't have any idea than take advices from parents or teacher. You shouldn't make some choices in hurry because that choice can affect you whole life.
