You've done it now, you've set me on fire

Flame. That's what this week has been.

And it's been a long week indeed. 12 days to be exact. Four more than the Beatles had back in the '60s. Yet it still feels like yesterday. Time is weird, man. I think we need to talk to Einstein about this...

But that's for another day. In the meantime, how have you been? As for myself, I've been burning.

Staring into the sun too long tends to do that sometimes. Staring into a future with the potential for billions of years of life, warmth, endless summer days filled with rose and green and silent soothing breeze. But also the potential for flare, immolation, all-engulfing and neverending destruction. The star of Remina, the star of the Nazarene.

The star that is Aeolion

Dust to Dust

It all starts here. Breath to hot lungs. Months of planning, provisioning, re-visioning, smoke and cloud ideation-ing, all finally forming itself into a little ball of actual being. What were once blue streaks of dry erase marker on my whiteboard are now wires in a rack of servers halfway across the world. What was once an action potential waiting for release in the center of some sleep-deprived neuron is now a Yellowstone supervolcano of compute waiting to explode. The app is coming to life.

And it is consuming my own. As the release date of the beta looms, I can feel myself being drawn deeper and deeper into its gravity. Feeling the heat's tongue lap across my face as I am pulled closer and closer to its core. As it consumes me, it extinguishes everything else. Besides work (sadly they didn't fire me yet) and the odd chess tournament here and there, I have been struggling to find the time for everything else. Specifically — Steemit. The fire has grown too large.

Be Humble

As it stands now, I've only made one full post here on Steemit. Well, damn, that wasn't how the plan was supposed to go... Not at all. I made the mistake early on of not giving my account enough Steem Power. So even when I had a post all ready to be published, I didn't have the credits to do it. On top of that, I chose the worst possible time to start my account — the week before payday. So getting more Steem into my account has seen me playing a frustrating waiting game that still has not fully resolved (thanks Coinbase).

However, this may have been for the better. A sign from the universe that it wasn't quite my time yet. A week in the ICU for a birth that came too soon. An instinctive withdrawal of the hand from the foaming pot.

You see, I messed up. Trying to peddle a new application that doesn't have anything but a vague, cryptic landing page and some abstract poetry while sporting less than a handful of followers and no reputation anywhere else on the internet sounds like a recipe for disaster. And that's exactly what it was.

I got my first downvote. Well, technically Aeolion did. And it shot some humility into me real quick. I deserved it. Trying to gain traction by force without much of anything to back it up. A hand through a pitch-black alley slapped on your shoulder with no prior warning of familiarity. No real existence for itself to even begin with. A ghost.

I've learned from my mistake. My eagerness has been quelled. Humility — acquired. And so I've decided that I need to give everyone much more of a reason to trust me and my company first before continuing to do any kind of advertising. Give you all a tangible experience with Aeolion before trying to show it off. And so I will.

Reformation/Incineration

So what is it exactly that I plan to do? Well, finish Aeolion for starters. Time is going by much too quickly to do much else. That will be my top priority. As for any serious posts on Steemit — those will have to be postponed until after the release of the beta (2/22/20). Then I will have time and substance to share with all of you. And I hope I can do a much better job of it when that time comes.

I'll still be around somewhat, trying to upvote and follow all of you spectacular Steemians out there. But any regular kind of posts from me will have to come after I've put everything in place. After I've tamed this fire. So I will catch you then.
