Did you remember in a time when the technology has not been progressing as fast as today. How do we keep our childhood photos, family photos, postcards, greeting cards or other sentimental stuff?

Maybe some of us choose to print the photo and keep it manually like most people. There is nothing wrong with that, although there is a risk that we may lose the photos by some circumstances, for example:

• The photo will decrease the image quality
  Images printed on paper have periods in which the quality of the paper decreases over time, for example the paper becomes obsolete.

• Manually printed and stored photos will be flood-prone
  Perhaps this will no matter to you who live in a flood free environment. However, not once or twice I heard from friends that they upset the photos affected by the flood.

• Problem in moving photos
  Maybe this is not a problem if the photo that we print only a few sheets or a few albums only. But of course it would be a problem if the photo album that we have reached 10 albums or more. Of course it will be heavy, let alone to be taken out of town or out of the country who travel by plane with limited luggage weight.

Well, here are some tips from me to keep photos or other memorable items:

• When printing photos choose the best quality paper if you want to keep it for a long time.
• For those living in flood prone areas, keep your photo album in the closet or the top drawer. So even if the flood came suddenly the photo was not wet and we still had time to secure the photo to a safe place.
• Back up photo you printed, if your physical photo is damaged or lost then you still have the digital version.
• For postcards, greeting cards or other letters the digitalize process by scanning and keep back up.
  You can choose by backing up on harddisk/flashdisk or by uploading to online drive provided free or paid. For example google drive, google photo, uptobox, dropbox and others. For ios user you can try icloud. It would be great if you do both the back up process above to avoid damaged harddisk or you forget the password after uploading to online drive.

Tips Menyimpan photo kenangan

Ingatkah anda pada suatu masa dahulu dimana perkembangan tehnologi belum sepesat seperti sekarang ini. Bagaimana cara kita menyimpan foto-foto masa kecil, foto keluarga, postcard, kartu ucapan atau hal-hal sentimental lainnya?

Mungkin sebagian dari kita memilih mencetak foto tersebut dan menyimpannya secara manual seperti kebanyakan orang. Tidak ada salahnya dengan hal itu, walaupun akan ada resiko dimana kita bisa kehilangan foto-foto tersebut oleh beberapa keadaan, misalnya:

• Photo akan menurun kualitas gambarnya
  Gambar yang dicetak diatas kertas mempunyai masa dimana kualitas kertasnya menurun seiring waktu, misalnya kertas menjadi lapuk dimakan usia.

• Photo yang dicetak dan disimpan manual akan rawan banjir
  Mungkin hal ini tidak akan jadi masalah berarti untuk anda yang tinggal di lingkungan yang bebas banjir. Namun, bukan sekali dua kali saya mendengar dari teman bahwa mereka menyayangkan foto mereka yang terkena banjir.

• Masalah dalam hal memindahkan photo
  Mungkin hal ini tidak menjadi masalah jika photo yang kita cetak hanya beberapa lembar atau beberapa album saja. Namun tentu akan menjadi masalah jika album photo yang kita punya mencapai 10 album atau lebih. Tentu akan berat ya, apalagi untuk dibawa ke luar kota atau keluar negri yang melakukan perjalanan dengan pesawat dengan berat bagasi yang dibatasi.

Nah, berikut beberapa tips dari saya untuk menyimpan foto-foto atau barang bernilai kenangan lainnya:

• Saat mencetak photo pilihlah kertas dengan kualitas terbaik jika anda memang ingin menyimpannya dalam jangka waktu yang lama. Dengan begitu photo anda akan bebas lapuk hingga puluhan tahun.
• Untuk yang tinggal di daerah rawan banjir, maka simpanlah album photo anda di lemari atau laci bagian atas. Sehingga kalaupun banjir datang tiba-tiba photo tidak terlanjur basah dan kita masih sempat mengamankan photo tersebut ke tempat yang aman.
• Sebaiknya buatlah back up setiap photo yang anda cetak, sehingga yang jika photo fisik anda rusak atau hilang maka anda masih punya versi digitalnya.
• Untuk postcard, kartu ucapan atau surat-surat berharga maka lakukan proses digitalize dengan cara scan dan simpan sebagai back up.

Adapun cara back upnya anda bisa memilih dengan memback up di harddisk/flashdisk maupun dengan mengupload ke media internet yang disediakan gratis maupun berbayar. Misalnya google drive, google photo, uptobox, dropbox dan lain-lain. Atau bagi pengguna ios anda bisa mencoba icloud. Akan lebih bagus lagi kalau anda melakukan kedua proses back up diatas untuk menghindari rusaknya harddisk atau anda lupa password setelah mengupload ke online drivenya . Demikian tips dari saya..
