RE: The world is just as we want to see it, and we are what we think

in #life6 years ago

A wise man once told me that he lived in a house, the house had 4 sides and on each side of the house was a large window that looked outside. In the front of the house there was a window that looked out into the street which was full of traffic, people were always stressed and in a hurry as they bustled down the side walk, bumping into each other and causing traffic jams. When he looked out the back window of the house, he looked into an alley way that was full of litter, garbage, rats, and raccoons scavenging about. On one side of the house he had a view of his neighbors house and his neighbors were much wealthier than him, they drove fancy cars, dined with silverware and sat in golden chairs. When he looked out of the other side of the house, he had a view of a park and the park had a grassy field that was always green and full of flowers, the trees that surrounded the park were big and beautiful, there were squirrels, birds, dogs and children always running about, happily. He told me that these things were all always going on in the world around us at all times but that it was up to us to choose which window we wanted to look out of.
