How to organize your goals?
I assume that you have goals and you want to achieve in your life but it could be very confusing and you might not know where to start and what to do. Setting goals and deadlines is important but not enough. You might wanna be a professional guitar player in a year or start own your business by the next month but you also need to have a plan for achieving them and make a schedule that brings you to take action.
You need to make your goals something that not only exist in your mind but actually happens in reality. The first step is to write down your goals. Try to be as specific as you can. Instead of writing be rich, write have a monthly net income of 25.000 USD then prioritize them. You will dedicate most of your time and effort to the most important goal and so on.
The second step is making a plan. How can you that ? Write down what you need to do in order to reach your goals and what steps you need to take ? When your goals seems too big and too far, you are unlikely to achieve it but when you break your large goals into subgoals, it becomes more realistic.
For example, if your goal is to be a full time writer, your subgoals would be writing a book , starting a blog or writing for a newspaper. Also publishing your work and connecting with the right people. After you know which steps you need to take, schedule it, set deadlines for your subgoals. For example, write for songs till May 21. Make a weekly or daily schedule and plan how much time to dedicate for each task. Tasks could be dedicate two hours for writing or write 30 pages. Depends on what is good for you and what makes you more productive. You need to keep in mind that unexpected things might appear and of course don't forget that you need to make time for daily activities such as housekeeping and spending time with family and friends.
A popular method of setting goals is to set a goal for the next 90 days. This amount of time is not too short to make progress yet, not too long to make you procrastinate. When you set a goal for a year, it may seem like forever. you might lose motivation and postpone your work.
However, in 90 days you can achieve great things without waiting for too long. Focus more on doing and less on the large goal or how far you are from it. Keep your goal always in mind but your actions right now are more important. The things that bring you closer to your goal are persistence and consistency. Don't expect that happiness will come when you reach your goal. Enjoy along the way and be happy now.
