Walmart Vision Center: Never go there. They will lie to you and withhold information that is necessary.

in #life7 years ago

Last Friday I had an eye exam. I did my due diligence and tried to find the place that offered me the lowest price but also would give me a reasonably good contact lens exam.

I ended up going to the eye doctor that was connected to my local Walmart because they said that they did a contact lens exam for $100.

That is the lowest price I could find around here. No bad reviews on yelp. No good reviews either, so I was rolling the dice.

I made a post about my miserable experience at that doctor last week.

It is located here: https://steemit.com/life/@jeezzle/i-got-berated-verbally-abused-and-called-a-liar-today-at-the-eye-doctor

The contacts that I was given were called Air Optix and they are remarkably uncomfortable. I have heard other people have success with them, but I can barely see at all. Also, it literally feels like I have a couple of pieces of thick plastic in my eyes.

I thought it might get better so I gave it a week but it didn't.

Today I went back to try to get a different pair of trial lenses from a different company. I was told they would have to examine me again.

What?

Can you just give me a trial pair from a different manufacturer? I would like to see if maybe they'll be comfortable this time around.

They told me at the very least I'll have to sit in the chair for a while and have my eyes looked at again.

Frustrating.

The lady at the counter wasn't sure if they would charge me or not but appeared to think they wouldn't. However, they couldn't see me today.

Now, I've been needing to buy a pair of glasses because I do not own one at all. I really hate wearing glasses so I never really thought I needed any.

However, I've become convinced that it would be a good idea to get some so I went over to the Walmart Vision Center to talk about pupillary distance.

Pupillary distance is the distance between your eyes. It's something that's needed when you buy glasses. However, when you get your prescription from the doctor it is unlikely that it will list pupillary distance.

The person you buy the glasses from can measure it when you buy them.

Here's the kicker:

What if you want to buy some glasses online? There are a lot of online glasses places that are offering rates much lower than anywhere you can buy in the store.

I've been thinking of buying some online myself so I went into Walmart to get my pupillary distance so that I could enter it and along with my prescription number in one of these online shops.

Walmart Vision Center refused to give me my pupillary distance.

They don't want to be held liable for giving me information that I use at some place that isn't Walmart.

Isn't my own personal information my own?

How can you withhold medical documents from me?

They told me they can do whatever they want with pupillary distance and they do not have to give it to me..

It's very frustrating because I want to buy some glasses and I don't want to have to deal with people that are incredibly rude.

I suggested to the person behind the counter that it could possibly be illegal to withhold information but he got angry with me and told me that if I wanted to get my pupillary distance I can try to measure myself or I could go somewhere else but there was no way he was going to give it to me.

So just for the record the eye doctor was a horrible person and called me a liar even though she was wrong.

The Vision Center then withheld information that I needed.

Additionally, I noticed that all of the free stuff that Walmart doctor gives you like eyedrops come from the same company as the contact lenses that they are shilling. I can only assume that they are in bed with this company.

I can tell you one thing..... I don't ever want to go to Walmart again.

I love low prices.

I can't stand being lied to though and I can't stand people that treat me like garbage. Walmart. If you want to be treated like you don't matter then go ahead and spend a few dollars less.

By the way, I found out that they don't offer the kinds of glasses that they told me. They don't even offer the highest index lenses.

They guy straight lied to my face and told me they have 1.74 index.

They just call them "High index". You don't get to choose the index.

Checking online I see the index is the inferior 1.67.

So the doctor called me a liar. The Vision Center guy lied to my face and withheld information that I needed.

Screw you Walmart.

What do you expect? Its fuckin WalMart! White Trash heaven. Sorry ya had a bad experience.

Well the Walmart near my job is actually really nice. It wasn't for this bad experience with the eye doctor and the vision center I would probably continue to shop there because they are actually not bad at all near me although I have seen some really bad ones in worst areas.

I hate going to WalMart overall. But there prices are just to good for my broke ass. Lol. I shop locally as much as possible. Hope ya get your eyes resolved.

I was watching an English class on Youtube (I'm still learning English), and I learned this saying: "Cheap works out expensive" I think it fits what happened to you. However, I think this shouldn't be like this, because they must give what they offer, and it it completelly ilegal. I guess in the US you can can sue the owner of the establishment.

I live in Venezuela and this is everyday fare. Because of the crisis, there are not many competitors and people basically do what they want, and the worst thing is they can't be replaced for another service, because there are just a few and no one wants to open new companies.

Sorry you had a bad experience, cheap things are a double-edged weapon, they can either be good or be very bad.

Good luck!

Please read my massage only if you have an opportunity to help me out.Hello @jeezzle and guests of this blog!

Last month my mother was diagnosed with lung cancer and now we are doing all in order to gather the funds needed for treatment and surgical operation. Unfortunately a major part of my cryptocurrecy stuck on HitBTC exchange and I don’t know when I will be able to withdraw them. I want to ask you to financially help me; even $20 will help my family a lot! Sorry for begging, but sadly I have no choice at the moment.
