"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken"
-Oscar Wilde
At first glance it can be considered as one of the great phrases of the famous writer. However, when we meditate on it we notice that we are locked in a question that marks our own life: "Who am I?
Often in this journey called life many of us seek to answer this question, focusing on knowing ourselves more, in order to determine who we are. And is that finding yourself until you get to feel complete with yourself is the greatest reward that could be achieved.
Self-acceptance can become difficult. One of the biggest flaws we have in this whole process is wanting to find ourselves through others or wanting to be them.
The fear of being me
There are different reasons why you run away. When the flight is no longer due to external agents but to flee desperately, this translates into fear.Fear of being who you want, either because we believe that we will not be able to achieve our goals or objectives being ourselves or by some external agents that in what way or another we will get involved in all this search to deviate from what we really needed .In any case, it is this fear created and fed by each one of us that obstructs our process of seeking, accepting and subsequently loving ourselves, which is what leads us to fullness.
Through this fear we seek refuge in others, want to be others and in some cases pretend to be others. At the moment in which we become aware of this reality we have two options:continue to live an alien search in which our "I" increasingly moves away, or accept what we have done and begin to fulfill the main duty we have: "be myself."
An endless experience
The process of searching for myself has always been full of new experiences, new adventures, new changes ... But, undoubtedly, throughout the journey, our "I" always shows us different facets of us, which otherwise teaches us how to adapt to each of our processes and what matters most to us.And that is what life is about, to seek, to seek not for the pleasure of finding but for the pleasure of seeking, and that in each search we can feel the happiness of loving and living this endless experience; because the only person with who we will spend the rest of our days is ourselves.
