RE: Fire on Our Doorstep

in #life4 years ago

Fire and flood is always a scary threat to homesteading. We've also faced both here. With the reality of evacuation. You must be relieved that it is under control. Or over by now.

As far as that rooster goes, feathers are the worst! I have to admit, the first time I was part of that slaughtering project I went vegan for two years. It takes a lot to do it. With so many meat eaters (in the first world) I feel that unless someone is prepared to raise and slaughter an animal themselves they really have no right to eat meat. Happy cooking

Yes, we are very relieved that the fire is under control. I admit that hearing the constant air traffic gave me anxiety.

I am heartbroken every time an animal is butchered, it's the hardest part of homesteading. I don't blame you for going vegan while you did. I have yet to participate, I find it emotionally draining. Though, I recognize I will eventually need to participate. There is definitely a disconnect when buying meat from the store; the animals are not honoured for their sacrifice in the same way. -Aimee
