Mysterious Rings Appear In My Local Park

Whilst going for one of my afternoon walks to escape the busy streets of London and the glare of my computer I found these mysterious mushroom rings that had suddenly appeared.

The park is a public common with several people walking their dogs everyday, usually nothing much happens there, just some football pitches.

In England these are known as 'fairy rings' and there are pagan legends around them, including dancing elves and bug eyed toads.

Folklore also suggests they can be dangerous to enter and are associated with witchcraft, they say crossing into one can lead to an early death or end up being hanged!
I wish I knew that when I saw them!

Some legends says they are created by fire from flying dragons tails or fallen angels descending in to Earth in pillars of flames.

They can also be seen as good luck, so who knows but i'm not going to take any chances.

Although the explanation of such phenomenon is far more down to earth and scientific. The mycelium exudes enzymes that dissolve the grass or something like that.
