RE: How Games Can 100x You and Break Reality

in #life6 years ago

He's absolutely right! At least for the first half. If you're single, that's totally doable. Problem is that's not how real life works for most people anyway. The real trick is finding a balance, and that's not easy to do. Life is dynamic. Things are going to break up the routine. Have to get your oil changed, Flat tire, Sick, Have to take someone else to the hospital, etc..? Things are going to happen that break up your routine, and you're going to have to take that time from somewhere. Everything you do, everything you give your attention to carries opportunity cost.

Balancing your priorities, and allowing enough flexibility in your routine to accommodate the unexpected is the trick. It's also really hard to do at times.

Another thing I want to point out is if you compete with other folks, you're never going to be satisfied. Only person I'm in competition with is myself. If I'm a better guy today than I was yesterday, it's a win. Playing keeping up with the Jones's will keep you miserable.

If you're single, and don't have anyone else depending on you, This is good advice though.
