Because the company gave her wrong insider trading information; she is suing them; insider trading information is what took down Martha Stewart.
I do not think the company has to tell her the truth, or lie; they can let her know the status quo of that moment. But there is no trust automatically given to an investor, an investor has to determine when to buy and sell on their own with the information that is available at large for the general public; not an insider information rumor that can not be substantiated in any form. That is one of the reasons insider trading is frowned upon in the first place. When it comes down to it she made the decision to sell not them.
