I used to have some kind of belief before the incident that happened on December 10, 2018 that someone with a cool face would certainly have a kind heart, cool character, and would be harmless. It's a lie, I was wrong and nobody else had a similar opinion. The incident proved me otherwise and forced me to change my perspective about someone with a cool face.
It all happened on a cold Monday morning. I took my bath, washed my and in minutes, I was in my full NYSC kits. I headed to NYSC office to complete my registration. On getting there, I met a lot of people on queue already and this got me angry immediately. I don't understand why everything has to always be manual in this country. I never still knew I was going to experience more of disappointment and wickedness from my fellow Nigerian.
After wasting our precious time on the queue, we were finally told to move inside a building to create a queue again while sitting. As this process was on going, I noticed my phone was nowhere to be found. I stood up immediately to search for it while standing, so many thoughts were going through my mind. Questions like 'how will I get a new phone in this broke period of mine?', 'how will people be wicked in this country without thinking about the pain of another?'. To cut it short, my mind was heavy and I could not think straight any longer.
I immediately asked a friend of mine to borrow me his phone to dial my number. Although the phone was on silence mode but it could vibrate. As I was sweating inside, this guy sat on my phone not minding the vibration. I believe the only thought he had was how to get the phone out of the premises.
Fortunately for me, as everyone was asked to stand up, I saw my phone with this cool face guy. He couldn't utter any words of apology and didn't show any remorse. I looked at his eyes and told my heart to never judge kindness by the face you see.
