On Thursday, once the vanilla was done, we got started on the pantry. The small white cabinet was next. We emptied everything out of it. I checked the dishes for dust, dirt, and bug spots and set the ones needing cleaning on the right side of the sink.

My helper friend washed out the inside of the cabinet and dried it. Then everything went back in. We washed up the dirty ones and got those back in too.

The back wall got vacuumed and wiped down. All the large items were washed down.

Next up, the dark cabinet.

This cabinet had so much stuff in it, we only did one shelf at a time. The top shelves and doors were washed and dried with soapy water. Then I wiped off each jar as it went back in.

Last summer, because these hadn’t been cleaned since the pantry was built in 2021, the dust had caused mold to grow on the bottom cabinets in the very high humidity we had. So the bottom part of the cabinet was washed with hydrogen peroxide and dried.

Once the doors were done and shut, we tackled the items on the top. We finished about 15 minutes before he had to go. I got the mess we’d made picked up, got the candles turned on in the windows and got the fires going.

I was really exhausted. I kept the fires going, had supper, spoke with my sister and my best friend, and then headed to bed at 8PM.

On Friday my helper friend will be here at 8AM and we will be starting the open shelves on the left side of the pantry. I also have to get the kitchen cleaned up before he gets here and do the milk order.

I thought you were done with the pantry
I like the way your pantry is looking well organized and super neat. Good job.

No, we still have one more day on it, after today.

The mold is so annoying, when it starts spread it's fast

That is one huge job tackling all the cabinets. You are inspiring me to get to mine, but, I still have family coming and going. Perhaps in January, sigh.

Definitely be more fun to have family than clean cabinets, etc….Wish I had that excuse…

Yeah, no wonder you were tired! You accomplished quite a bit. Looks great!!

It’s really nice to walk in, even though it’s not done yet. The cabinets gleam and there’s no dust!

After making the vanilla extract, everything is now clean and tidy, so it looks good.
