What is Minecraft? I am sure you all know it. And me not;)))
To tell you the truth, I knew NOTHING of it. I heard such a word, I knew it was a game, and that's all.
BUT I have a son of 8 years....aaaaand...now I know everything about Minecraft:)) Ok-ok, not everything, of course, but at least I do know what it is, and how to play it!;))
It's my son's new passion.
Where has it come from? Oh...from his friends...socialization makes its "task"...:)
All people around worry how an unschooling boy will be socialized..
Don't worry, guys, he has no problem with it, and all mess that covers modern kids touch my boy, but much less, much much less. Thanks God.
So time of Spider man passed (he was his passion not long ago, he had clothes with him, bags with him, etc). Now it's time of Minecraft:))
At first, I was against it very much. In general I don't support PC games passion and a tablet games playing (he has no his own smartphone still, it's our decision). But my hubby is a great experienced player of all possible games. Not because he is an addicted player, but because he was a game developer for a long time, and he had to know all games features. And he said Minecradt is not a stupid game, it's a strategy that can teach many useful things. I trust his choice. He is not against it, and we let our boy has his choice and his hobbies.
So now he plays Minecraft about 30-40 min per day, but it's not enough for him:) He buys magazines and books that tell how to play the game and how to get cool tips.
We bough such a magazine, and I was surprised that the describtion of the game was really interesting! it's a real Universe, many worlds that you can build by yourself. Really magnetic task for kids!
But in the magazine there was some paper games as well. For example, a reader can make his own handmade paper Minecraft character.
It wasn't easy. The paper was too thin, it was hard to stick all parts together....My patience was over in 30 min, But my son continued....and in 15 min more he succeed! I was surprised!
It will not live long, it's really too thin, but it was his goal to make this toy, and he did it;)
And you know what did he say to me?
- Mom, you failed because you had no desire to have such a toy. I had such a desire, and I won.
He was right;) My little wise boy;)
Guys, what can you say about this game?
Do you like it?
Do you play it?
What I don't understand about this is that... school is not the only place where children socialize, there are many other spaces where children can interact with other children, there are many children who go to school and have difficulties socializing anyway. I think that in this sense, the parents' help is the main thing, to gradually teach the children to interact with others.
I really like the Minecraft universe even though I never got to play it when I was young, but I know it's very attractive among children and that's good because it helps them develop creativity, that for me is very important. Although it's also good that the access to electronic devices is limited, we know that kids nowadays are easily addicted to technology.
oh yeah..it's a huge problem now, a real desease! I control time and set limits not to let him go to virtual world too much
thanks for your opinion about schools! I totally agree with you!!
are people there only at schools? all the rest life is like a desert? funny argument when people have no other ones.
I've been playing Minecraft with my son (also 8) since he was 4. There is so much in there that can be used to teach them if you're also involved. Not just math, either. My kid is currently writing a story in a book in Minecraft to work on his spelling and I'll jump into his world from time to time to read it and help correct some spelling and punctuation. It's very important to limit the time, especially at their young age, or they'll get too attached.
There's also Minecraft Education which we play around with sometimes. It's got a number of lessons available for different subject, but also good for you to design your own lessons. It also does a good job getting them into the basics of coding using a little robot they can program in the game and build whatever they want.
wow! I didn't know it! thank you!!
I really need to study this game carefully. It seems it has a lot of useful things
Now your sonm is 8
you don't play it any more?
I tried playing Minecraft before, I just can't enjoy it to the fullest because I suck in building whatsoever. So I drop it haha. But lots of people live this game. And that include your son now. Gosh, he is very dedicated in learning it. It's a good strategy game too I think. He'll learn something from it for sure.
oh yeah...now I see he gets really much knowledge there. How things are build, what they consist of...this game is definetely not a stupid one;)
He'll become addicted to it day by day so you giving him a limit is a right choice ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ
oh yeah....I see absolutely lost kids addicted to games completely...so no. I will control it carefully.
Minecraft is even considered one of the best activities applied in Mathematics and other subjects. It is included in our training. It's a good thing he knew how to do it.
in your training? what do you mean?
one more positive feedback for this game;) great!
This really melt my heart. 🥹🥹
Clever boy! 🥰
I was surprised by these deep words as well;) but actually it's what I try to teach him. When we want to have anything, we will get it by all means. Maybe my words were like seeds that gave sprouts;)
Surely they were! I love his little heart and mind. 💙
where are you lost? I check your posts every day and nothing..
Hahaha 🤣 Right now I'm lost in my bed but overall, I was very busy and tired. Nothing really important, just life. In other words, I missed you too 😁💗
life is so...life;))

I'm here, didnt go anywhere :p
I'm still having a busy time. Don't know when I can post another thing :D
