Late Christmas vibes - Euphorbia pulcherrima

Happy garden vibes

Remember our trip to Nerja recently? I took so many pictures during those two days that I wouldn't know how to share that in a few posts. Luckily for me, I don't find time to write daily at the moment so I can just make a selection of some pictures I took and then write about it whenever I get to it.

Walking into the garden in our rental in Nerja, I smiled instantly, so many flowers around and even a free mango from own garden as a bonus (we ate it a few days go, it was very tasteful).

Card issues

I took many pictures the day of arrival but I had to stop doing so with the camera after 20 pictures or so because suddenly the camera would not recognize the card, I felt highly annoyed because I felt dissappointed to miss out on taking so many pictures in such a photogenic environment. After all, we aren't in Nerja every day. It's a lush area and I was pleased to finally have a camera with me to capture the beauty. Thankfully for me, in the evening after we returned from dinner, my boyfriend fixed the camera issue with a little paper and told me to buy another card later. It was a temp fix, although I haven't bought another one yet and it still works. Writing this here just reminded me of taking action on that. It was quite shit to have the camera refuse on the spot, so I want to avoid having this issue again.

The second day

We went to the flea market first and upon arrival back in the house, we had a few hours left before check out so while my daughter was watching some tv, I went into the garden to make sure I took as many shots as I could. I was surprised that I didn't notice the details of this beauty the first day..

In Holland, we just call them "kerst ster" which translastes to English as "Christmas star". I had them at home several times in the past, but I never noticed the details of the flower in my life. Maybe beause I had another version of this plant because while looking it up online, I found the name "eurphorbia pulcherrima" and different versions of it. Either way, the one that we found in the Nerja garden was intruiging enough to have me taking at least 25 pictures as I wanted to make sure to capture the detail.

Tiny mouths

I think you can see why I thought about little mouths or kissing lips while taking these pictures. I was surprised I never noticed them before as I have the habit of checking flowers out for years now. But then again, I don't remember seeing these plants much in the wild here, they are usually other types of flowers that make me stop and take pictures (even with my phone). I think flowers are very thankful and fun things to capture because some pictures come out just amazing!

Dew

Upon looking closer to the leaves, I noticed dew on top of them and I think it almost looks like a tiny layer of ice or snow, don't you think?

I admit it was a bit more difficult to capture it as I envisioned it but I'm still learning and I don't think they came out bad either.

It was hard to pick a favourite picture of the whole series but I think the header image is the best one. What do you think?

Thanks to this garden, I can't wait for a next trip to such a lush environment and capture the beauty, it didn't only make me smile constantly, it also took me back to a nice memory when sorting the pictures at home later. And I know for sure that I want a bit of that garden vibe in my own future garden.. That weekend was filled with inspirational moments, love it!

Have a lovely weekend!

Thank you, I'm quite pleased myself. Not all pictures turned out great though, some of them I wish I noticed on the spot but it's a learning curve :)

The shots are beautiful, and I can not remember that I ever saw a "Kerstster" like this. But I have to add to this, that I didn't have them for many years now because the "Kerstster" as we know them, is poisonous to dogs. And as you know, everything for the dog(s) here in the house.

Thanks !LUV

I remember the same thing about them being poisonous. We went to the garden centre last year to check which plants we could take home but sadly enough, with 9 out of 10 that we gave a look because we liked them, it turned out poisonous. I remember these being instantly shot down as option as well, lol.

But still, when I had one in the past, I never saw them with these cute little mouths :)

I can't remember ever seeing those "Lucky Lips" either ... But it does look very cute

Yeah, lucky lips is a nice name for them !PIMP

Your shots are very beautiful, friend.

I see some very beautiful flower pictures my friend

"Your experience in Nerja sounds absolutely wonderful! The beauty of nature and the free mango from the garden – it all seems like a dream. The camera issue must have been frustrating, but it’s great that your boyfriend helped fix it. I hope you get a new card soon to avoid any future problems. Looking forward to seeing more pictures and hearing about your adventures!"

Beautiful pictures! That is a really pretty flower. Glad that you got to enjoy your time there, and it sounds like a return trip in the near future might be nice!
