My husband has lots of friends; not only because he is a friendly man but he had lived in many places because of his amateur boxing career way back in our younger days.
Not only his friends are friends but they become his family, his brother by heart as for the love of boxing and more. Now when my grandma died and her wake was on the church they were attending, I and my husband went to the place and stopped by on his friend's house and of course, we were invited to stay for dinner!
Apo made haste to cook rice and asked her wife to cook alacart for us. Alacart is the term used for barbecue street foods which Apo's wife is selling for a living in their place. My husband feels at home in their house even if it was his first time going, perhaps it was because he had known his friend for a long time and he is comfortable with him.
while lounging on their couch, I heard a loud cuckadoodledooo from the outside and when I took a peek on the window, I found this rooster perched on their backyard which was owned by Apo's father inlaw.
His daughter joined us for dinner and even gave us macaroni salad for dessert! Delicious!
Not long after, we went ahead to my Lola's wake and met with other relatives whom we have not seen for a long time. My grandma's passing has brought the family together and she was laid in her final rest peacefully.
MI was delighted to see my husband smile and laugh with his old pal, both were talking about how silly they were on their training camp; how they added salt on someone's coffee, how they told an auntie that someone died and then that particular person appeared, making that auntie very frightened for seeing ghost! They did uncountable silly things and that made me want to see them all and bring life to those memories once again but unfortunately, most of them had their own family and each is busy making a living to make way in life and the complete reunion is impossible but I bet that time will come one day when a huge boxing camp will be held in our community.
It's very nice to see another side of my husband which I don't see everyday including the life he had even before me.
So these are the things that happened during our quick visit to a friend's house and it was splendid!
Have your better half made you see what his life was before you came?
That's truly heartwarming to hear how your husband's friendships have become like family, especially stemming from his shared passion for boxing. It's moments like these, where friends open their homes and hearts during times of need, that truly showcase the depth of those relationships. It must have been comforting to have such a supportive community around during the difficult time of your grandma's passing. It's a testament to the bonds formed through shared experiences and genuine care for one another.
