Photo taken today while going to the farm

working on a restday

It's my rest day from work and our schedule was to give fertilisers to the corns we planted at the farm. My husband's nephews are doing something else so it was me and my husband and our son that went.

trusted with a friend's vehicle

A few months ago, my husband was entrusted by his friend of his multicab, a small vehicle that is big enough for our needs. It was out of condition when my husband took it from the owner and he had restored and replaced most of the consumable accessories of the vehicle including the tires. And since then, we alternately use with with our motorcycle but the larger vehicle is safer to use when the road is muddy and slippery.

vehicle status

The multicab is a bit old but the engine is still on great condition. The wipers don't work, the horn sound faded and the headlights one eye blind and don't have a low option. Some of the wheel reams rusty and broken, passenger door handle broken; the spare tire so thin yet otherwise still good.

it's multi indeed!

During last week's harvest on our cassava crops and rained, we use it to be our makeshift tent and. perhaps it's called multicab because it can be used as anything according to one's needs

it's best to be patient

Since we were in a hurry going to farm today, my husband drove. Though I had been wishing he would let me practice, I had kept thoughts to myself and was very patient.

The husband had to referee a basketball game at 1 pm so we immediately went to work and sadly, 3/4 sack of urea(46-0-0) fertiliser was not enough for the crops. We still had to come back and give the poor plants which was not accomodated today.

I never dared bringing a phone with me because I knew fertilizers can damage phones so I was not able to take pictures of us working plus we are in a hurry. My son, I left at the bungalow and watched videos so he will never cry and demand our attention while at work.

We finished at quarter to twelve and hurried home but I remembered we had to feed my mother's chickens and dogs first before leaving so here's a video of my husband giving the chickens their feeds. I honestly forgot to buy them feeds but good thing there was something left for the previous day's feeds.

in a hurry but got stuck a few times

The vehicle was parked at the entrance to the farm since the road was very slippery. The husband started and tried to go backwards the vehicle got stuck and asked me to go behind the Steering wheel and he pushed. He even schooled me for stepping in the brakes when we needed the to glide. Lol!

I am still confused where to turn the steering wheel to go left when moving backwards!

The husband went to the driver's seat but got stuck again and asked me to go again so he would push.

He asked ordered me to turn the vehicle on, put the clutch or the third gear and free the vehicle and I don't really have any idea of some he say.

The clutch lever doesn't have any print in it guiding where to pull!

actual driving exam, no practice, no discussion

To my surprise, after the vehicle was free, the husband sat onto he passenger seat and said we should go. Then I was 😱 oh my, you haven't taught me driving this and now you want me to drive and our son is with us!?

He left me no choice but guided me where to pull and assisted me with some things. I was able to drive and thanked my husband for his trust and support.

After a few meters, we met with my cousin and the husband told me to pull over but I didn't step onto the clutch with the break and the engine stopped. So we chatted with my cousin for a while and then went again.

I still had many things to adjust and familiarize with the vehicle. Of course, calculation on doing the next move is everything too.

looking back to my first driving experience

My first driving experience was in college. I was a BS agriculture student back then and we rented a tractor so we would know how to drive and on my turn, it rained and so I took my time driving a round the soccer field while others only got a few minutes.

The next was when my husband rented his friend's multicab so he could practice and let me practice with him too. But at that time and until now, I have a hard time connecting with my extremeties and drive slow and smooth. Clutching and changing gear is my very challenge and I was not yet into turning lights, wipers and signals yet!

Also, I haven't driven on a busy road with it yet.

Perhaps the coming days will be practice driving days at random time. I am still learning even when I'm not on the driver's seat. Well, I never dreamt of driving 4 wheeled vehicles back then but I see it a need especially when emergency strikes.

The husband kept encouraging me to get a driver's license whenever there are activities related to that in or barangay hall but I refused because he never trust me on driving motorcycles anymore. The highway had ever more so busy after lockdowns and he perhaps he doesn't think my driving is good.

Once in a while, he make me drive but fear often engulfs me and made me limpy and afraid.

Posting this to remember this wonderful moment.

What's bout you, what's your driving experience?

Sort:

I'm different here. I never leave my phone behind.
I can leave my wallet and still get food and pay for it with my phone.
Haven't driven a manual gear for a long time but I learned my driving like that.
The clutch is the pedal you step on to free the gear so you can change the gear from one to another.

Seems like you made use of e-wallets that much. You see fertilisers contain many chemicals that could damage the phone when particles comes inside the electric parts. And I could not afford losing my phone.

Yes, newer cars does not need to change gears already and the say it's better especially when on a heavy traffic cities.

Yes, the auto gear cars are easier to handle in city traffic.
