El pasado martes 25 de marzo celebramos en el Teatro de la Opera de Maracay los treinta y cinco años de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Aragua, que fue fundada el 19 de marzo de mil novecientos noventa.
Mis primeros contactos con el mundo musical aragüeño los tuve a mediados de los años ochenta, por aquel entonces en nuestra ciudad ya se veían los frutos de aquella inmensa obra del Maestro José Antonio Abreu conocida como el Sistema. Un proyecto que logró llevar la música clásica a todos los sectores de nuestro país.
Muchos de los jóvenes que formaban parte de los núcleos juveniles del Sistema en Aragua, cumplían parte de su formación musical sirviendo de maestros a los más pequeños. Yo llevaba a mi hijo mayor al kínder musical de la escuela de Música Federico Villena, en los espacios de la Casa de la Cultura de Maracay, y aquellos entusiastas muchachos lo iniciaban en los primeros pasos del bello arte de la música.
Más adelante cuando los niños terminaban su pasantía en el kínder musical pasaban a continuar sus estudios regulares de música. Allí eran otros los Maestros, gente que ya formaba parte de los diferentes núcleos de las orquestas que se estaban gestando.
Por aquellos años también estaba yo comenzando mis estudios de Maestría en la Universidad Pedagógica de Maracay, y antes de ir a mis clases, que eran en el horario nocturno, pasaba al mediodía a nadar un poco en las piscinas del polideportivo de las Delicias.
En esas ocasiones siempre me encontraba con los muchachos de la Orquesta, que entrenaban a la misma hora que yo. Para mí era todo un reto seguirles el ritmo en la piscina, eran mucho más jóvenes. Me colocaba en un carril cercano al de ellos y con mucho esfuerzo lograba terminar los mil o mil quinientos metros que hacíamos tres veces a la semana.
Algunos de aquellos muchachos todavía se mantienen activos como miembros fundadores de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Aragua. A sus cincuenta, sesenta años y más continúan siendo ejemplos para un semillero de músicos que no para de crecer en estas benditas tierras aragüeñas.
Por las redes del Teatro de la Opera me enteré del concierto. Le dije a mi esposa que organizáramos nuestra agenda para tener libre el martes por la tarde.
En este tipo de conciertos, con entrada libre, siempre asiste mucha gente. Algunos hacen cola desde temprano para lograr ubicarse en los mejores asientos en la parte baja frente al escenario. Sin embargo, nuestro Teatro de la Opera tiene un diseño que conserva una gran acústica, lo que hace posible que se pueda disfrutar perfectamente el sonido de la Orquesta hasta en los últimos asientos de la parte alta.
Mi esposa y yo llegamos como a las tres y treinta, ya la cola era como de unas doscientas personas. Diez minutos después entramos al recinto, ese espacio del Foyer, que da la bienvenida a los asistentes del Teatro de la Opera es muy bonito, cuenta con asientos mullidos, una linda iluminación y hasta tiene unas cuantas obras escultóricas.
A las cuatro en punto comenzó a escucharse la afinación de los instrumentos y cinco minutos más tarde salieron los músicos al escenario.
La programación de ese día se inició con un Preludio de Igor Stravinsky, una obra en la que la percusión juega un papel muy importante. Luego la Orquesta tocó la Obertura de Romeo y Julieta de Piort Tchaikovsky, esta parte tiene pasajes más conocidos para el público ya que su ritmo suave y melancólico ha formado parte de numerosas bandas sonoras de películas y programas de TV.
Al terminar esa parte se hizo un intermedio y los maestros de ceremonia procedieron a entregar diplomas y botones de reconocimiento a diferentes integrantes de la Orquesta. Algunos fundadores que ya están jubilados subieron al escenario a recibir sus reconocimientos. El público acompañaba cada entrega con un caluroso aplauso, el ambiente estuvo muy familiar y emotivo.
Luego de los reconocimientos la Orquesta tocó la 8va. Sinfonía de Antonin Dvorak una composición donde el arpa tiene bastante participación.
La orquesta sonó muy bien en todas las interpretaciones seleccionadas. Estos músicos realmente han alcanzado un alto nivel, son capaces de conmover a cualquier auditorio.
Esa tarde del 25 de marzo es otra que anoto entre los grandes momentos de mi vida. Me encanta este tipo de música, tiene el poder de llevarme a estados de ánimo de mucha placidez e intensidad. En realidad siempre agradezco poder asistir a este tipo de eventos.

In those years I was also beginning my Master's studies at the Pedagogical University of Maracay, and before going to my classes, which were at night, I would go for a swim at noon in the swimming pools of the sports center of Las Delicias.
On those occasions I always met the boys of the Orchestra, who trained at the same time as me. It was a challenge for me to keep up with them in the pool, they were much younger. I would place myself in a lane close to theirs and with a lot of effort I managed to finish the 1,000 or 1,500 meters that we did three times a week.
Some of those boys are still active as founding members of the Aragua Symphony Orchestra. In their fifties, sixties and beyond, they continue to be an example for a seedbed of musicians that continues to grow in these blessed lands of Aragua.
I found out about the concert through the Opera Theater's networks. I told my wife to organize our agenda to have Tuesday afternoon free.
In this type of concerts, with free admission, always many people attend. Some people line up early in the morning to get the best seats on the lower level in front of the stage. However, our Opera House has a design that preserves great acoustics, which makes it possible to perfectly enjoy the sound of the Orchestra even in the last seats in the upper part.
My wife and I arrived at about three thirty, and the line was already about two hundred people long. Ten minutes later we entered the venue, that space of the Foyer, which welcomes the attendees of the Opera House is very nice, has soft seats, a nice lighting and even has a few sculptures.
At four o'clock the instruments began to be tuned and five minutes later the musicians came on stage.
