It's normal for most people to see weekends as resort period when they are free to do what they could not on week days especially due to the demands of their jobs, deals, contracts or whatever it is they are involved in. Some days back, I was going through a documentary when I discovered that happiness across the world increases significantly on weekends.
This, I guess is mainly because of the familiar euphoria that comes with weekends - that feeling that comes when you know you'll be off work for at least two days of the week to either be with your family or loved ones, or even engage on a private pursuit you deem worthwhile. This feeling become even more appreciable when one meets up with the set goals of their work days: a compensatory feeling of an achiever.
One truth I have discovered over the years is that weekends mean different things to different people depending on the nature of one's job, culture, engagements or anything worthwhile. A bar man normally would work more on weekends considering the greater number of people seeking resort to ease off the stress they had been through all week. That's by the way.
My Weekend
This weekend for me is quite different from every other weekends I've had in the past. My weekends in the past was quite engaging for me, with different activities and meetings to attend.
This weekend was an indoor one for me.

I was late to bed - I slept the early hours of Saturday morning only to wake up quite late. I did some laundry and prepared some food for breakfast (may be lunch, considering the time I ate it) after which it started to rain - it rained for quite a long time. Earlier, I planned going to a mapathon center close by, with my team of mappers to do our weekend mapping, but I couldn't because of the downpour. I ended up doing some reading and taking a long rest which was really therapeutic for me considering how difficult it is to be off work these days.
In the evening, when the rain had stopped, I made out time to attend a very impacting workers meeting of a students' fellowship, where I learnt a lot on strategic planning. It was really worth it.
After all, my day was quite enriching even though I couldn't meet up with my day's plan. I was really myself throughout the day mainly due to the rejuvenating effect of my long unplanned rest, which I sure know will boost my productivity for the coming week. Truly, rest is a vital ingredient for maximum productivity.
