Hey everyone, I know we are having some nice time here. As our custom is, I'll be sharing with us some of my experiences of last three weekends, precisely on the 15th day of July this year.
It was a Saturday I really looked forward to, considering it was my friend's wedding. It ended up with a blend of sweet and sour.
I can't really say why some days could be hectic despite necessary preparations on one's part.
Let me take us through the events of the day...
On Friday, the day before, I was informed that I would be the driver for the occasion. I was to drive some student friends to the wedding and reception venue, after which I'll drive them back to school.
Early on Saturday morning, the day of the wedding, I was to first go and get my personal belongings from an uncle who came around town. I rushed out without much preparation just to catch up with time (9am). I got to where I was to meet with my uncle only to discover he was still on his way. Even though perplexed, I had to wait for almost an hour before he arrived (it was already past 10am), a few minutes to the wedding.
Me before event
The wedding was fixed for 11am. I already knew I had to speed up things to meet up with time (remember I was to drive the wedding guests).
I managed to finish up some minutes past 11am. We took off about an hour later. Yea, I ensured everyone was set before taking off.
How We Almost Missed It...
On our way to the wedding venue, I was only familiar with the first few hundred meters of the road.
I have not been to the exact place before. I asked those in the bus if anyone knew the place. No one could tell the exact location of the wedding. We resorted to using Google map for direction. Along the way, the director (also a guest) became confused on the direction of the map (I concentrated on my driving as I got directives from the guest sitting beside me). It took us over one hour to get to the venue after a number of misdirections from the mapper. It was supposed to be a 25 minutes journey.
To the Reception Venue
After the wedding ceremony, we all moved towards the reception venue which was about 10 minutes drive from the wedding venue. There were two routes to the place. We didn't know the reception venue, so we had to trail one of the cars that came for the wedding, hoping it was going same direction as ours.
Along the way, one of us suggested we follow the second route which he was sure of instead of depending on a car which we don't fully know its destination.
I saw the suggestion as good and turn to the second road. Along the line, we came to a central market where we met a complete deadlock.
First problem was the limited space of the road due to numerous traders selling their products close to the main road (I had to avoid their products).
Second challenge was the numerous vehicles that tried to make their way through the market road. Everyone seemed to be in a hurry.
Long story short, we spent over one hour for a journey of ten minutes. By the time we made left the market, I was really blank upstairs. My mood was on the wrong mode. Our vehicle was almost bashed by some reckless drivers, but thank goodness we came out fine.
Me dressed up
At the Reception:
When we got to the reception venue, people were amazed at our unusual late arrival. We met the major events after all. We had a good time with good meals and refreshing entertainment. We easily forgot the troubles of the past. Funny enough, it was considered a good adventure by most of us - we laughed at the whole thing on our way back.
Me and a friend
I probably would have voted this but I don't understand why you used a stock image for an event you said you went to rather than a photo from the event.
So sorry about that. I thought it would convey some message about the post.
I will surely do better next time.
Thanks for the pointer. I appreciate.
Yay! 🤗
